Timeline Facts

Post by Shiriki » 15 Jan 2015 17:52

Hi all

Have noticed today that whilst I can still toggle the Timeline Facts on and off, when applied I don't get the grey background. This used to be visible and I don't believe I have interferred with any settings which would affect this.....any ideas how I might be able to restore the appearance of the grey background?

Thanks in advance.

Have you updated to FH V6.0.1?

They grey background is only applied to Timeline Facts inserted amongst the other Facts. These other Facts have a blue bullet . for Individual Facts and a red bullet . for Family Facts, whereas Timeline Facts have a silver bullet ..

Are you sure you are seeing such Timeline Facts with a silver bullet but no grey background?

Hi Again

Have double checked a number of things in FH v6 to no avail and then I thought to check my screen settings.
Found that the screen brightness was set to 62% and by reducing this to 50% allowed me to see again the grey banding surrounding the Timeline Facts (near relatives) when toggled on.....so Doh! false alarm in my original posting.
However it makes me wonder if Calico Pie should give this banding a darker shade or possibly colour.......I don't know at the moment if this is something that can be changed by the end user under some Preference or Option setting.....will have to explore further.......

Checked my version of FH via Help - Check for Updates which returned Current Version 6.0.0. It also stated This is the latest version, check again later for updates....Only button available to click on was Close, the Download free update being greyed out.
My interest was piqued by Tatewise about my version of FH so checked the Calico Pie website to find that the latest free download is Version 6.0.1......but this was not picked up from Check for free updates within FH......perhaps I'm being impatient and a link needs to be enabled on the website to allow the program to be directed to the update......will have to wait a day or so to see what happens.

Regards to all

Don't overlook, that as well as the grey background Timeline Facts have a different bullet from the other Facts as explained above.

Have a look at Tools > Preferences > Property Box > Colours and see if the grey background can be altered there, but I suspect not.

New upgrade versions are not enabled through Help > Check for Updates for a while, in case there is a significant problem that needs the upgrade to be re-issued.

You are on the right track Tatewise..

Looked in Preferences>Property Box>Colours......and there under Items is the ability to choose Timeline Fact Background.
With this selected a suitable shade/colour selected applied and okayed all is now much clearer to see within the Property Box Facts pane...
