V6 Drag & Drop YouTube
Fell at the first fence.
Tried to drag and drop media as in the YouTube video but could not do that.
Tried clicking on various icons on right as in video but could not get change in mouse arrow.
Please advise.
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this .
Look forward to your reply

Re: V6 Drag & Drop YouTube
Susan, first a little housekeeping:
Could you please update your current FH Version so it appears in the right-hand panel.
At the very top of this FHUG page click User Control Panel, then on the Profile tab select Family Historian Version 6 at the bottom and click Submit.
I am not sure FH is designed to drag & drop YouTube or any other form of video &/or audio media.
I think it is intended for text and static images.
Where were you trying to drag & drop it to within FH?

The FH What's New In V6 says:
You can drag-and-drop text from the Web Search Window, or from most word-processors, onto any name, date, place or other text field, in the Property Box or Automatic Source Citation pane. You can drag-and-drop images (typically, from a web browser, or from file explorer) onto the Media tab of the Property Box, to add pictures for the person or other record type. You can drag-and-drop images onto the Fact Media Window to add pictures of an event (such as the christening in the example shown right). Or you can drag-and-drop images anywhere onto the main application window, to simply add them to the project. Drag-and-drop is now also supported extensively with other tasks within the program – such as adding records to a selection, or manually setting the location for a place on a map.

Re: V6 Drag & Drop from You Tube video
I was following instructions on YouTube where Jane has posted a tutorial on adding media in V6 .
I was trying to drag and drop within v6 on my Family historian programme on my PC as instructed from YouTube video I.e.
'drag and drop images onto main application window to simple add them to project.'
Could not change my mouse arrow to the drop and drag icon as shown in you tube.
Thanksfor assistance

Re: V6 Drag & Drop YouTube
Sorry I misunderstood.
I had not seen that YouTube video before, and it does not actually show the drag & drop process.
First find an image (either in the FH Web Search window, or an external browser, or elsewhere).
Then left-click on the image and hold the button while you drag to any FH window, and then let go. That should create a Multimedia Record linked to the dragged image file.
But note that the Multimedia Record name will match the filename, and I am not sure whether the image will be stored directly in the Media folder or in a sub-folder of your choice.
Beware, some browsers, and some websites, may not let you click-and-drag images. In that case, another option is to copy-and-paste (text and/or images) instead.

Re: V6 Drag & Drop YouTube
I am a bit disappointed that the image is not included in V6.
Probably will copy and paste.
Thank you for deciphering my query and responding in a clear manner.

Re: V6 Drag & Drop YouTube
I have experimented with FH V6 and added some advice to how_to:copy_paste_and_drag_drop|> Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop.
