Hi
I have been experimenting with Addresses and Places and the number of columns in each in an attempt to sort out my data.
(Please see my previous post Mapping and Geocoding Woes (12114)).
I have placed some of the address data within the Place field (to enable better discrimination for manual geocoding) and put in the relevant commas as necessary to ensure the respective parts of the location are in the correct Place columns as follows:
Column 1 - Building Name
" 2 - Number
" 3 - Road
" 4 - Village
and so on......
In locations where I have only general information I therefore have a number of leading commas before say an entry of 'County' appears and a number of locations where there may be commas separated by blanks.....
I have discovered that when producing diagrams one can clone a Scheme and edit the Place to show 'Tidy as opposed to Full, which then removes these leading commas and spaces as well as those superfluous within an entry.
It appears that Narrative reports automatically strip out these redundant commas/spaces but the other reports do not.
Is there a way to have Tidy Places within these other reports as I have searched to see if there is a Tidy button I need to depress but have failed to locate it if it exists to date.
I have looked at previous postings (relevant to FHv5) and I believe that this was something that was hoped to be addressed in v6 and I am becoming more confused.
I would rather not have to export a report and edit same in MS Word or similar just to remove the offending commas......
Have I missed something or is there a simple elegant way to achieve what I desire.
Many Thanks in Advance
Shiriki

Re: Tidy Places?
No, you are correct, and that issue with untidy Place commas in many Reports has been raised again with V6. We shall have to wait and see if it gets fixed.

Re: Tidy Places?
Many thanks Tatewise for the reply....
I was hoping that in v6 this particular issue had been resolved, particularly as it seems an algorithm for doing just what we want has been applied within the diagrams option and automatically applied in Narrative reports.......
Will just have to wait to see if an update is released in the near future......

Re: Tidy Places?
It cannot be that difficult because Address fields with extra commas are tidied correctly everywhere.
