version 6 Facts box settings
Hi I have Version 6 now
On the individual facts box I notice that I now have entries other than the individual ie
Brother born...
marriage of sisiter
divorce of son etc etc
I do not want to see all of these facts only those directly for the selected person
How can I alter this setting please ??
Thanks

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
If you go to Help > Family Historian Help > The Property Box > Facts Tab > Select Timeline Facts Dialog you can customise what's shown. From What's New in Family Historian 6 (within the Help file):
•Extended Family 'Timeline' Facts
◦You can optionally show extended family ‘timeline’ facts in the Facts tab of the Property Box. These ‘timeline facts’ can be easily ‘toggled’ off or on, and are distinguished from normal record facts by a light grey background. They are configurable, and can include events such as birth, marriage, divorce and death, for parents, siblings, spouses, children and grandchildren. The practical consequence is that you can now easily get a quick overview of all the important events in a person’s life from a glance at the Facts tab.
◦A new ‘Individual Timeline’ query can be used to show the same timeline facts in the Query Window, or be printed as a report.

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
Even in FH V5 it displayed more than "only those directly for the selected person" because it included the Birth Events of all Children.
As with FH V5, in FH V6 you can hide/show them in the Property Box on the Facts tab by clicking the Show Timeline Facts icon (calendar with green plus). This will remain in force indefinitely until you change it.
Next to that icon there is a shortcut via the cog Menu icon to the Timeline Facts preferences.

Thanks found and altered
Thanks again
I see that even when timeline switched on that data does not appear in the Narrative descendants report

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
There is a new standard query Individual Timeline for reporting. I don't think there is any suggestion anywhere in the Help documentation to suggest that timelines are intended to appear in standard Reports.

Depends on exactly what you mean.
They do appear in all Reports, but under the Individual they are directly associated with rather than their relative.

Thanks all
I meant that with timeline turned on in facts it shows all related family events if ticked.
If it is turned on and one goes to Narrative reports Descendants then the individual basis shows but not the related facts of other family members..sorry I was not clear

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
Yes, that applies to ALL Reports the same as in all earlier FH versions, where you could switch Child Birth/Adoption Events on and off in the Facts tab, but they never appeared in that Individual's section in any Reports.
All that FH V6 has done is enlarge the set of Relation's Events that may be included in the Facts tab, but nowhere else.

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
Having read this string it answered what was to be my next question about including birth dates of siblings and grandchildren.
However, I now have a further question and possibly a wish list request.
The cut off date can be adjusted, but it would be useful if there was also a selection for commencement date as whilst I like to see events such as birth of siblings, I only want to see them during the individuals lifetime.

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
The Death Cut Off Date was only added during Beta testing, and the idea of a Birth Cut Off Date was also mentioned, but not implemented. The main thrust of the debate was events for Children & Grandchildren that could occur many decades after Death.
I guess the reasoning is it only affects some events of Parents, Siblings & Spouses.
The Parents & Spouses events can be selectively disabled in Preferences.
So that only leaves Sibling events that rarely occur more than a decade or two before Birth, so presumably thought not worth the effort and complication.

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
I understand the reasoning but I would have thought that a birth cut off was not a huge issue, as in my distant past I did a limited amount of relational database design. However, I accept that I obviously do not know the detail of this program and the developers must have considered it an unnecessary complication at the Beta testing stage. Perhaps it can be considered in the future and can it be added to the wish list please
