V5 to V6 - what was the download for V5 called?

Post by PaddyPaws » 11 Dec 2014 10:09

Hi

I'm currently using v5.0.9. My husband has ordered the upgrade to V6 for me for Christmas :D

I'm planning on upgrading my laptop in the new year so was just checking I've got everything I need and can't find my FH v5 download.

I've got the disks for v2 and v3 (full versions), I've got the downloaded files to upgrade 3 to 4, various minor upgrade downloads and I've got the upgrade 5 to 5.0.9. BUT I can't find the download for v5. I can't remember if I did v5 as an upgrade from 4 or if I bought the full version (I think it was the full version). To help me search my hard drive and backup drive please could some kind person tell me what the down load file was called for v5? (full version and upgrade would be great)

I'm kicking myself as if I'd realised I couldn't lay my hands on it hubby would have ordered the full version for me

thanks in anticipation
Helen

As long as you have your V5 licence key you don't need your installation program. You can just install the V5-V6 upgrade and enter both licence keys.

If FH V5.0.9 is already installed, then I suspect the V6 Upgrade won't even asks for the V5 Licence Key, but it would be as well to find it for when you need to install form scratch in the future, and one day you will!!!

Checkout the how_to:index#installation_guide|> Family Historian - Installation Guide for further advice.

Thanks, its the install from scratch bit I'm bothered about. Unless I can extract the license key from the application I don't have that either.

Kicking myself as I'm usually really carefull with all this stuff.

Off for another search of my hard drive and to send an email to support as per the instructions on the website - thanks for the pointer Mike!

I've just done the upgrade, and it didn't ask for the old V5 key, just the new one that came with the email when I purchased the V6 upgrade.

Helen:

I see you think you bought the full version of v5. Can't help with the filename for the download for that but if it was the upgrade version and if you stored it on your hard drive then the filename you need to search for begins upgrade_fh_v4_to_v5

If you bought either full or upgrade version as a download then you should have received from Calico Pie an email with the licence key. If you store old emails (or if you use webmail and your webmail server does) then a search for Calico may locate the email you need.

If all else fails, then Calico do offer an updgrade from v4 at a slightly higher price than the upgrade from v5 but at a cheaper price than the full version so is it possible to cancel the order for the v5 to v6 upgrade and download a v4 to v6 upgrade instead? That presupposes that you have your v4 key.
