Just installed V6 and internet matching is working fine. However, I'll probably switch it off as the first thing that has struck me is that someone has taken my researched information and published it themselves! Yes I know it goes on, but it's very annoying!

I'm obviously doing something wrong - I cannot see any matches - do you have to be a member of My Heritage?

Derek,
No you don't have to be a member of My Heritage.
Have you tried the refresh described at

Jane,
Yes - I did try that - I did that without success!
Under the heading Data Internet Matches - most of the boxes are "greyed out" - and shows "Disable" against Match Types Required.
On trying "installation settings" it changes to "All matches" - I apply and then OK but if a I leave that page and then return, it re-assumes "Disable"?
Can you make sense of that explanation?
Derek

Derek, that sounds as if the setting is not being saved in the Windows Registry, which suggests a write permissions problem.
Do other Tools > Preferences changes 'stick' or do they also revert to original value?
A re-install of FH should fix the problem.

Mike,
I have just done a reinstall - I have 2 trees set up - one of my own family, and one for my One-Name Study (ONS) - my own family one links ok, but my ONS still does not link!
Now I am confused!

Maybe I am wrong about where those settings are saved, because on reflection they are per Project settings, so must be saved in the Project folder somewhere.
I am not at a PC with FH V6 installed, so cannot check just now, but I suspect it may be in the Settings folder alongside the Media and Plugin Data folders, within the <project-name>.fh_data folder.

Mike/Jane,
Now sorted.
I opened a new project and transferred my gedfile across - it now works a treat!

I get the FHUG mailing list digest and saw Jane's post there. Reset my settings as advised, and I now see little clock icons in the spot where the hint icons appear in the screenshots. So it appears that things are working.
... and in the time it took me to write that paragraph, the little clocks have turned into hint numbers.
Thanks, Jane!

Is there a way of viewing all the people that have matches, preferably in the Record Window, so that I can work though all of them? I suspect that there are matches down branches that I don't visit very often and may miss if I don't know where they are.

I have been playing around with the Internet Matching and I must say it is producing many more hints than I had expected, although the quality of the hints is highly variable from completely useless to very interesting. However, that isn't a fault with FH 6, rather with the quality of input by subscribers to My Heritage and also to some rather duff transcripts, who's origin I haven't bothered to investigate. One surprise is that My Heritage has (some of?) the FamilySearch images of the Norfolk Parish Registers and I have been able to download several images that I had not previously found by browsing through FamilySearch.
However, I am still faced with the problem - probably bigger than I had originally predicted - of uncovering all the hints on distant branches of the family tree, which has over 7,200 individuals. The hints don't seem to show up in the Records Window - where it would be easy to go through them methodically - and can only be viewed, as illustrated in the FH Web Site, in the Focus Window.
Is is possible by customising the Record Window or by using a suitable query to list all the individuals who have a Pending (or some other status of) Internet Match?

It might be possible with a Plugin but I have not yet fathomed out where the hints are stored.

Thanks, Mike. I realise everyone is rushing around trying out this wonderful new toy so if it isn't as simple as I had hoped then I am happy to wait, as there are plenty more goodies to be discovered.
