Upgrading from Version 4

Post by janefrances » 07 Dec 2014 16:03

I have family historian from version 2. The upgraded cd to version 3, then with downloads for upgrading up to 4.1. My question is will I be able to buy an upgrade to version 6 or will I have to purchase the full CD?

The answer to that question should become clear in the next couple of days, when FH V6 is formally launched.

In any case, a Full V6 Download is a cheaper alternative to a CD.

Whichever option you finish up with, you will never have to re-install V2 + V3 + V4 again.

Note that FH V6 does NOT run under Windows XP.

I believe that the upgrade will be for those who have version 5 so I think you'll need to buy the full product this time. I assume you'll be able to save a little bit of money by downloading the full version via the Family Historian website rather than buying the boxed product. Wait a couple of days and all should become clear.

Just to clarify, I'm basing this on the fact that the Genealogy Supplies website states that the boxed upgrade to version 6 will 'only work for users who have version 5 (either the full or upgrade versions)' but of course it is always possible that the downloadable version will be different so hang on until the 9th to find out.

Best wishes

As you have V4 I recommend hanging on until tomorrow when the download versions of Family Historian are released.
