Adding pictures

I have a fairly full folder of pictures (~100) and have copied in a number (~30) of new ones.
I now want to make FH aware of them by 'adding' them, however selecting the new ones from the list is proving a little tricky!
Has anyone got a easy way of selecting just the new ones?
Thanks

Welcome to the FHUG Peter.
If you explained what made it tricky, it would be easier to help you.
My guess is that the pictures are listed alphabetically and so the new ones are dotted around.
You could select them individually by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on each picture in turn.
Assuming they are dated later than than all the old pictures, then there is an easier way.
In the Insert Pictures dialogue use the View Menu to select Details view.
This should include a Date Modified column, so click its heading to sort into date order.
Then all the new Pictures should be grouped together and you can use the Shft key to select the whole group.

Thanks for responding. Yes they are all over the place in the alpha list. Date sorting doesn't improve it!
I started by having the Add window and the All Media windows both open and Ctrl selecting the missing items but for some reason the Add window now open maximised and so the All Media list is no longer visible!
Next time I will put new photos in a new folder!

Peter,
If you select the media button on the toolbar, it should open up a screen listing "All Media" with a search box on the top left-hand side. If you click on the down arrow alongside the "Media List" box you can narrow down the list in various ways including picking "New/Unlinked Media".
Hope that helps.

Mervyn, Peter has not got to that stage. He is trying to ADD new FH Media from a Windows folder containing both old and new pictures.

Peter:
If the position is as described by tatewise, then Jane's plugin "Check for unlinked media" may be what you need. Check out its description in the plugin store.

Mike,
Sorry if I have jumped to a false conclusion but, having reread Peter's message(s) several times, at no point does he say he has already tried filtering the folder list to just display his new/unlinked files.

Derek, for the
Check for Unlinked Media Plugin to work the picture files must already be in the Project
Media folder, but Peter has not yet Added them into FH, so they are still elsewhere in another Windows folder.
Mervyn, I suspect you misunderstand what
New/Unlinked Media means. It refers to
Media records already linked to
Files in the
Media folder, but NOT yet linked to any other record such as the
Individual Media tab or
Source Media tab. In other words are NOT listed by any of the other
All **** Media filters. What it does NOT refer to is
Files NOT yet linked to
Media records. Try it by copying some files into your Project
Media folder, and that
New/Unlinked Media filter will NOT list them.

Peter
As you will see, three of us have interpreted your posts in three different ways. Hopefully one of our suggestions will help you achieve your aim here. If not, perhaps you could explain whether you use Projects and if so whether the folder containing the pictures is already in your project or not? As Mike says, my suggestion is only valid if the folder containing the old and new pictures is already within the project. I had perhaps misunderstood in assuming that it was, and by saying that you were wanting to introduce them to FH you were trying to get FH to create media records for them so that they coild be linked to individuals or sources or whatever.
