Upgrading to FH5

I am currently using fh3 and my husband is gettkng me a subscription to either ancestry or fmp as well as upgrading my software. I am more than likely going to upgrade to FH5 but want to ensure I am making the right choice. I read a review comparison and showed legacy having a higher rating. Some aspects that I am interested in seems to be covered by the plugins such as mapping where my ancestors lived. Is this correct?
I think I have seen plugins that might help copy information from web pages into fh5 but was unsure if I had read that correct. I am not fussed about searching a specific website directly from the software, but it would be good to capture the information straight into the software. I currently copy and paste the whole page into a new source. Hope this makes sense.

Family Historian is an excellent program but asking if you are making the right choice on a forum dedicated to Family Historian may not give you an unbiassed view. My suggestion would be to join a forum dedicated to Family History but not biassed towards one piece of software. A forum which fits that bill fairly well is Family Tree Forum

http://www.familytreeforum.com/forum.php

which is very active with people who are very willing to share their viiews.

I believe you will find that the latest version of FH does all that you require.

Hi David
I already posted on rootschat but I also wanted to check thar fh5 did what I needed and figured I could find this out here. I certainly would prefer to stay wirh fh5 to save learning a completely new software.

Thanks

I just got an email to say version 6 of FH is on its way and will include mapping. Could be just what you want!

Although not a newcomer to FH, you are a newcomer to V5, so I advise you look through how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and generally explore the Knowledge Base to get a better idea of the latest features.

Thanks everyone. Anne will check out the new version.
Mike, I am working my way through the new features and plugins. I feel a little stupid as I have just realised that 2 computers ago I had Gedcom Census installed and totally forgot about it. Also have only discovered today that AS works on FH3 too! Cursing my wasted hours inputting all the information I have found this year!

FYI:
Plugins are not supported in the FH V5 Free Trial - just in case you were tempted to give that a try.
FH V6 has been announced for release on 9th Dec and advance orders and gift packs will soon be available.
Anyone who has purchased a full copy of V5 since October 15 can apply for a free upgrade to V6 when available (conditions apply). Please see http://www.family-historian.co.uk/apu6.
