Showing direct ancestors clearly in the focus window

I appreciate that FH5 doesn't allow flags to have an effect in the focus window, but...

...as I have all direct ancestors flagged as such, how do I go about setting the 'relationship to parent' to 'de facto' for everyone with this flag? I like the idea suggested by someone of using this to indicate a direct ancestor.

Also, as I suspect that tatewise will read this, thank you very much for the plugin you've provided on transferring all settings from on PC to another - my heart was in my mouth but it worked a treat :)

Many thanks.

I am glad the Backup and Restore... plugin worked seamlessly for you.

It is not clear why you need Flags to indicate direct Ancestors.
The function =IsAncestorOf( FileRoot(), %INDI% ) does the job automatically.
Plus if you change the File Root temporarily you can quickly determine their ancestors.

I'm afraid there is no way, short of writing a Plugin, to automatically set 'de facto' based on Flags or functions.

I suspect Help - direct line indication in Record view (5504) was the other thread that you recalled.
That someone was me!

I want to show direct ancestors in the focus window so that I can jump up and down generations accurately without having to go via a diagram which does show me which individual is the direct ancestor. And you're right - that is the thread which I was remembering!

Never mind - I can live without it. I've got to master queries before I can contemplate plugins...and there's the small matter of the actual research :D

Thanks again,

Jumping up and down the direct ancestors in the focus window can be done to some extent using the Ancestors tab. If you focus on your root person you can get 5 generation tree on the ancestors tab and if you focus on one of them then you can move further up the tree and the back arrow will take you back.
