Removing living people from a FH create website

Hi all,

I was looking at the native FH web site creation process as an option for me.

I have a FH Project created from a TMG import. None of the "Living Y/N" flags appear to have migrated, so it appears, from looking at the FH web creation process, that I need to have the living/non living status for individuals established before I can create a FH website of non living people using a live FH database.

I was hoping that there would be utility that would look at my FH data and, according to specific life/death parameters, just add a non living flag.

Maybe there is another way to achieve what I want to achieve?

I am well aware that, if I go outside FH, that there are plenty of utilities that will do what I want with a copy of my FH GEDCOM.

Help needed.

There are a variety of queries to spot and mark the living people in FH, try
fhugdownloads:contents:flag_living|Flag Living as a good start. Once you have the result set, just use the menu icon to select "Set Flag on Row Records" to set the living flag.

I would also check to make sure you don't have the flag, but with the "wrong name" in which can you can just set the living flag using the result set from a "Has Flag" query.

Hi Jane,

I have gone through the process of using the "Flag Living" custom query to display what the query believes to be living people. At a glance it appears to do a reasonable job. I then used "Set Flag on Row Records" to assign a living flag to people in the generated list. This all works fine.

My issue is how to effectively use this process over time when people die (this is a bit of an inconvenience).

If I use the process listed above (I assume the process will overwrite living flag with living flag or add a new living flag to those without one) I will get more people listed as people are born but, to compliment this process, I need a query process that lists the people that are "non living" with parameters similar to the previous process and an associated process that removes the "living flag" from these deceased individuals.

Any ideas?

I think I found one acceptable solution in the absence of a "Flag Dead" query that works similar to "Flag Living" query.

What I did was:

1. Created a list of all individuals with a death date column and a Flag column.

2. Ran query and sorted into death date order.

3. Highlighted any flag entries with associated death dates

4. Used Edit/Delete to delete highlighted flags.

This method works in the shorter term but not in the longer term where individuals must be dead but have no associated death record to confirm this.

Did you try using the EstimatedDeathDate function on your query?

Yes, the EstimatedBirthDate() and EstimatedDeathDate() functions are extremely powerful.

They look at all appropriate Events such as Birth, Baptism, Christening, Death, Cremation, and Burial, not just for the Individual but also their Relatives.

You can set the number of Generations away from the Individual to search for Relatives with appropriate Events.

Also the Tools > Preferences > Estimates tab settings are used where necessary.
e.g.
If a Birth Date can be deduced, but no Death Date can be deduced, then the Life Span estimates are used.

Also, even if you have no Death details you can usually enter an approximate or range Date.
