I have multiple cousins who have married and their boxes are linked by curved lines, which makes the diagram look very messy. How do I hide these curved lines?

You can configure or remove the duplicate links via the Diagram options (Diagram>Options from the menu) then either simply untick check for Duplicates (1), or better as you will then get the collapsed trees go into the Options (2) and turn off the lines, but leave the checking on.
