How to keep Saved Chart while merge 2 projects?

Post by michele »

After four months I'm still stuck.
I have a project with a big Saved Chart.
I merge this project into another and would like to keep the Saved Chart.
But I found no way, as discussed in previous topic.
The problem is that FH crashes trying to open the imported Saved Chart.
I bought FH 5 and updated to version 5.0.9 which has not solved the problem.
Please help.

As discussed in the the previous topic, FH does not support Saved Charts following a File Merge of two Projects.
FH V5 is no different to FH V4 in this respect.
Sorry

Have you tried merging the project without the saved charts into the one with the saved charts? Obviously if you have saved charts in both projects this will not help.

David, if you check the previous thread you will see almost every possibility was tried, and Calico Pie confirmed it was not supported.

What is more disturbing is that simply renumbering Individual Record Id will invalidate a Saved Chart.

Mike

I did read the previous thread and I also downloaded the zip with the two projects.

Following the instructions I crashed FH by merging the second file into the first and attempting to import and open the saved chart.

So I decided to do the operations the other way round - namely importing project 1 into project 2. There was no problem with the saved charts because they were in project 2 and remained undisturbed by the import. I was able to open them and as far as I could tell they looked the same. I then saved the second project closed down FH and reopened it with the second project to ensure that there were no problems on opening and again it seemed fine. Of course I cannot tell if there were any other problems as I was simply checking the one thing but it does make logical sense that the charts will continue to work within the project in which they were created even if another project is merged onto it.

Well spotted David, I thought that had been tried, but obviously not, as I get the same effect!

David
thanks for the suggestion: it could be perfect, but in my real research there are Saved Charts in both projects, as you foreseen.

Mike
thanks for clarifications.

At the moment I see no other solution that recreate the same Charts from scratch.
