I am having a similar problem, the image displays correctly in windows and IrfanView but is rotated in FH, see attachments of photo with EXIF data and multimedia window from FH.
Any further ideas?

Graham

Resave the image in Irfan and then upload the new image to FH.

That should sort it.

See the section on Photo Orientation in how_to:v4:adding_multimedia|> Adding Photographs and Other Multimedia, especially the fourth bullet point:
If the associated thumbnail image is incorrectly orientated then:
Use Options > JPG Lossless Rotation… (Plugin) again.
Set Transformation to None, tick Rebuild EXIF thumbnail, then click Start.

Apologies for the necropost, but have been looking for a quick solution to fixing a folder with a lot of JPEGS, about 70% of which are rotated (usually 270 degrees, sometimes 90 degrees), as reported by Windows Explorer Details View, using the Orientation field.

downloading jhead and jpegtran solved this perfectly for me - a quick jhead -autorot *.jpg fixed all those images that needed fixing, and left the others untouched. Was super fast as well. As far as I know, jpegtran seems to offer lossless transformations, so you shouldn't lose any image quality.

I would recommend taking a copy of any important photos and checking the results first - but worked perfectly for me.

Have a look at this website for Autorotate. It packages up those utilities that fugu68 mentions into something very easy and quick to use. I've been using it for years. https://savolai.net/software/jpeg-autorotate/

I've updated how_to:v4:adding_multimedia#photo_orientation|> Photo Orientation to mention those utilities.

I've never quite got to the bottom of this, but if you are a Windows user, and use Windows Explorer to show thumbnails of images, beware that if you rotate an image (in whatever way) then that thumbnail may not automatically get refreshed immediately (or not at all), so you end up thinking that the rotation hasn't worked unless you open the image with a viewer that uses the EXIF tag, and displays it correctly.

The only way I've found to force Windows to refresh the thumbnails is to delete ALL thumbnails so that it's thumbnail database gets rebuilt. This can be done via Disk Clean-up on the C: drive, and in the Files to Delete list, tick Thumbnails, then OK.

Have you tried right-clicking on any blank part of the right-hand pane and choosing Refresh?

Otherwise, the Clean-up and delete Thumbnails cache is the way to go.
