There are two Richards in my Tree/Diagram, cousins, born a year apart(1796/97) in different villages. There is doubt which one married twice. I want to keep the option I have but want to copy the wives and descendants of that option then attach them to the other Richard in another file that I have. Save a lot of bother when it is finally sorted out. Hope this makes sense. Can anyone help? Do I unlink, split or what?
Yours in hope but very little anguish
Tony

Why not leave well alone?
If you eventually need to switch Richards, just move the wives and children then.
Otherwise, you will need to regularly export those descendants every time any one of them is updated.

If and when you need to swap the family, there are a number of ways to do it.
(1)
Display the married Richard in the Focus Window.
Right-click on the Wife you wish to unmarry, and choose Unlink Record.
Right-click on each Child of that marriage, and choose Unlink Record.
Display the other Richard in the Focus Window.
Click blue link Add more relatives for Richard, select Add Spouse, choose Link Existing Record and select the Wife.
Click blue link Add Child, choose Link Existing Record and select each Child unlinked above.
(A side-effect of this method is an empty single parent Family Record for first Richard that you should find and delete.)
(2)
Select the Families tab on the Records Window or use View > Record Lists > Families.
Locate the Family Record for Richard and his Wife.
Expand its details by clicking on [+] on the left, and in Husband field right-click on Richard's name.
Choose Replace Link With > Link to Existing Individual Record and select the other Richard.
