I'm wondering if this service announced today will finally allow Family Historian to be run easily on any desktop, laptop or tablet whatever the operating system. As I understand it, Amazon Workspaces delivers a virtual Windows 7 desktop complete with space for programs and data, allowing any Win7 compatible program to be used on any platform.

It is an interesting technological service, but has a few snags for FH users.
There are licensing issues, because only licensed software can be installed on AWS.
The standard single user licence for FH only allows installation on 2 PC at your own home.
Who is going to pay between $35 and $75 per month just to access FH ?
It is cheaper to buy a Windows licence and install it in a free VM on iMac or Linux.
Also the WineHQ emulator offers a totally free solution once a few bugs get ironed out.
Multimedia files must be uploaded to AWS initially and downloaded whenever displayed.
If the user does not have a high speed broadband link then that gets tedious.
