Re: FH running on Wine
Mike
I have never mentioned crashes only lockups, bad wording by Codeweavers.
I will go back to them with the backup folder name issue.
Unable to test the script and 5.07 at the moment as I am having some problems with Wine and have deleted it and am awaiting an updated beta from the developer.
The easier thing with Wines is the inclusion of WSH 5.7 as it is a tick box option when compiling the bottle.

Re: FH running on Wine
Mike
I was just thinking the same thing. Nothing at all from the Wine developer but he does say he is busy and will reply as and when. I have had nothing more from Codeweavers or Calico about the rendering problem. So no more news I am afraid.
The good news is that I haven't found any issues other than those we have covered.

Re: FH running on Wine
I'm running FH 5.09 under Parallels 8 on a Macbook Air and Mavericks 10.9.2. I have a similar problem that none of the plugins that I have tried run and give the error "No changes have been made to data records" as described in Valkrider's 11th Feb post in this thread. The plugins install without errors, they just won't run - I have tried Search and Replace v1.6 with no luck either. Could any of the solutions offered for Crossover work with Parallels?

Re: FH running on Wine
Simon,
It is the earlier part of the error message that matters, before it says "No changes have been made to data records".
In Colin's case that identified a very specific problem with a missing environment variable COMPUTERNAME.
If the earlier Search and Replace v1.6 Plugin is also failing then it is a more generic problem.
Since Parallels 8 is running the Windows OS (which one?), I am surprised that things don't work just as they do in native Windows.
If it is NOT Windows XP, or Windows 7, or Windows 8 then FH V5 is NOT supported.

Re: FH running on Wine
Simon, your configuration is very similar to mine before my recent up date to Parallels 9. I was using Win XP under Parallels 8 and everything ran fine, including plugins. I'm not sufficiently computer savvie to try and get things running for you but cannot understand why you are having problems. Could it be the way you have configured Parallels? Have you tried re-installing FH?Spoon003 wrote:I'm running FH 5.09 under Parallels 8 on a Macbook Air and Mavericks 10.9.2. Re: FH running on Wine
Sorry Mike, I should have said I'm using Windows 7. There isn't any other error message, just that which I quoted, so not much help, I'm afraid.
Gerrynuk, I know more about Windows than OSX (just bought my Macbook Air) so I just followed the basic install instructions of Parallels 8 and Win7 so I don't think I've changed any settings from the default. I will try a re-install of FH as I'm sure that the plug-ins worked before, though as I primarily use my PC I can't remember for sure.

Re: FH running on Wine
Simon, you could try running some Plugins in edit/debug mode to see if that gives any more clues.
Use Tools > Plugins and click the More >> button bottom right.
Select any Plugin in list and click the Edit button top right.
In the editor window use the Go command top left, and see if any more error info is reported.
If not, then repeat the process, but in the editor window use the Step Into or Step Over command repeatedly to see how far it gets before failing, or you get fed up.
To close the editor window use the red X Close top right.

Re: FH running on Wine
The error message in the lower left pane of the editor window says "An error has occurred - plugin failed to complete
No changes have been made to data records." as soon as I click 'Go'. The exact same thing happens when I try 'Step Into'; it fails immediately.

Re: FH running on Wine
That suggests there is a major error with the installation of FH regarding the Plugin LUA interpreter sub-system.
Perhaps a new download of the latest FH V5.0.9 and re-install that.
If still no good then uninstall FH V5 completely and re-install from your V5 purchased CD/download, and then the FH V5.0.9 upgrade.

Re: FH running on Wine
Thanks Mike, reinstalled as you advised (not as bad as I thought) and now plug-ins work again! I'm not sure what had gone wrong with my installation, but it's now sorted.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
