Create a Timeline using Queries

Post by CurtisB48 » 10 Nov 2013 18:42

Is it possible to create a Timeline as a query?

I am looking to create basic timeline for any individual that has gaps in my research: birth, census, death information etc, but I have not been able to work out how to do this. I have used the Map Life Events Plugin which is excellent, but I only need a working document to use.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Try these for starters:

fhugdownloads:contents:timeline|> Query:Fact ~ Timeline

fhugdownloads:contents:query_timeline_facts|> Query:Fact ~ Timeline Facts

Timeline Chart Plugin

The two Queries are found by using timeline Search in the [kb]|[/kb]

The Plugin is found by using timeline Search in the FH Plugin Store

Mike

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at both Timeline and Timeline Facts as suggested, but they do not produce what I am looking for, neither does the Timeline plugin. The Timeline plugin version will be used as a finished document to put in my research file.

Attached is the Family Tree Maker timeline report for my paternal grandfather (I stopped using FTM after I bought FH5) this is what I was hoping to produce in FH5, if it can be produced but not with family information (spouse, children information) that would not be a problem for me, although if it could that would be a bonus. My aim is to have a working document to help with my research where there are gaps.

If you can point me in the right direction or explain how I can achieve what I am looking for I would be most grateful.

I could not attach the full report so have attached basic cut down report

OK, so something similar to the Facts listed on the Facts tab of the Property Box.

Try the FH Publish > Individual Summary Report or Publish > Record Detail Report > Individuals.

Note that these can be further customised via Report > Options to add or remove detailed facts.

It might be worth spending some time working through the Help > Book: "Getting the Most From Family Historian 5", which also has tutorials, in order to familiarise yourself with the FH product features.

Thanks for your reply, that is exactly what I would like. Have just run the two reports you suggested and the Individual Summary Report "fits the bill". When I bought FH5 software I also bought the book "Getting the Most From Family Historian 5", which I am now having a another read of it and re-doing the sample tutorials, I did manage the chapters on Queries ok, but not so easy when attempting to do your own queries. Will need to try and master producing queries in the FH Sample Project during the winter months.

Chapter 17 Reports is one to look at, where one of the first Reports mentioned is the Individual Summary Report, and goes on to discuss Report Options.

Mike

Thanks for your reply, reading Chapter 17 Reports has helped me with my timeline request and printing the information for it.
