Publish Book
I am well on the way to having a book ready to print of my wife's paternal grandparents "Descendants by Generation" with at least one photo of each of the 200+ people involved. However, I note that there are many occasions where the photo is on a different page to the relative text, or even the text itself is half on one page and half on the next. Ideally it would be possible to trigger a new page when required to prevent this. Is it possible?

Re: Publish Book
There is no way to force FH to trigger a new page explicitly.
However, there is a trick as mentioned in thread Page breaks in Sources section (6629).
The method involves using the Keep with Next option to keep lines on the same page as their heading.
In the Report > Options > Format tab, under Hdg Style select Hdg Level 2.
Click the Edit button to open the Heading Style window.
At the bottom, alter Keep with Next to increase the number of lines.
Click OK twice, and review the resulting changes.
Experiment with different numbers of lines until you get the best effect.
I presume the problem with pictures is that there are more pictures than associated text.
So the pictures continue down right hand margin with no text next to them.
Try the Diagram Options > Pictures tab setting for In Rows Above Text, Left-Aligned.
Then the pictures will always be in rows just above the associated text.

Re: Publish Book
Hi Mike, I do already have the pictures above the text, left aligned, with a maximum of three pictures per line. I will now try what you suggest and see what happens. Cheers.

Re: Publish Book
Mike, On second thoughts, is what you suggest meant to correct one page, or to adjust the book as a whole (to put any text with its relative photos on the same page). Because I can see a situation where to adjust one page, could just push the problem to the next, or a subsequent page.

Re: Publish Book
I did try what you suggest, changing the value from 99 to 120 and back to 80 and 60, but saw no apparent difference with any of these. Most of my entries have a row of the descendant A's photos, a row of their spouse's photos, both their details and a list of their children. The page break can occur anywhere through those. I suppose the only way to ensure what I want is to re-programme to keep all the data relevant to Descendant A on the one page. If space permitted, all of the data for Descendant B could be on the same page, otherwise he would have to begin another page.

Re: Publish Book
It might be an idea to try your experiments on a separate Report rather than the Book.
Use Publish > Narrative Reports > Descendant by Generation and adjust the Options > Format there.
The settings will apply to one Report Type as a whole, and not to separate pages or sections.
Certainly, the Format only applies to the Heading Level being adjusted.
Heading Level 2 applies to the numbered siblings with their Name in bold and not to their Spouse and Children sub-sections.
Try slightly lower numbers such as 30 or 40 to start with and gradually work up.
If you do not want to disrupt the Standard Report settings, then remember to use Save Report As > Custom Report Type, and use that Custom Report Type in the Book.
The only other option is to save the Book as a Word-Processor Document (RTF) and insert the Page Breaks using a word-processor such MS Office Word, which can then be saved as a PDF.
However, I am not sure if this will upset page cross-references in the Contents and Index.

Re: Publish Book
I already have it as a Custom Report, but changing the value right down to 20 did nothing. As there is no cut and dried way of doing this, I think I shall just leave things be. Perhaps in future versions there might be more tools. Thankyou for your help Mike. Cheers.
