* cannot open fh

have version 5 but recently cannot open it -just shows box with fh in it
however if I click on files they run but do not open

Do i have to reload program?

Will FH run via:
Start > All Programs > Family Historian yellow folder and click on Family Historian with fh logo?

If so, then only your desktop shortcut is broken.

Right-click on the same Family Historian with fh logo as above, and choose Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).
This will create a shortcut called Family Historian (2).
If that all works OK, then select the old broken shortcut and hit the delete key to send it to the Recycle Bin.
Finally rename the new shortcut via right-click Rename to remove the (2).

If all that fails, then you will probably need to re-install FH V5.0 and then V5.0.9.
But it would be wise to uninstall FH first via Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Another couple of things to try especially if it was working previously

1. Disable your Anti-Virus and try starting FH

2. Boot into Safe Mode and try starting FH.

Thank you both for your suggestions.
after trying many ways to fix the problem by accident I found fh hidden on my SECOND monitor and eventually transferred it and it is now working ok.
