Hi Jane & Mike
I use Roots Magic Family Treemaker & Family Historian.
Each program has its pros & cons.
I am dedicated to Family Historian mainly and the only item I find hard to control is the moving, manipulating of the boxes within a tree.
I do not know if this has been raised before but is there any reason why rather than using all the tools ie grabbber etc, you cannot just click on a box and pull it to it a new position. Likewise to move the whole Tree up etc.
This is similar to Family Treemaker.
I use all the queries Diagrams reports etc in FH 5 its great. But I am forced to using the Family Treemaker 2012 Descendant & Ascendant Trees so I can fine tune movements of the boxes.I find the grabber moving and resizing very clumsy.
Has this been brought up in the Wish List ??
Thanks for any help.

One of the many great features with Family Historian diagrams is the ability to add a new spouse, parent, or child to an individual by clicking on their box and dragging in the relevant direction. I would certainly not wish to lose that most useful functionality.

Are you using the Box move tool box or just the page moving?
With the tool box on there are a whole raft of options to move and arrange boxes.

Have you checked out the new videos at

These explain the options very well.

Tree boxes moving
Thank you. The video I had never found before and was VERY useful.
I essentially wanted to do just 2 things
1 Just move one (single box ie person ) in a Family Group.
2 Move whole diagram Higher up to the top of the paper before printing.
