I have included an index in my Descendants by Generation report. I have modified the Page Layout to have the header be Descendants of =Record() .
The correct header shows in the descendants and sources sections of the report, for example Descendants of John Henshaw. However, on the index pages it shows only Descendants of.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Wouldn't be the first time. Sorry if this is already addressed somewhere. I looked around, but couldn't find anything on the site or in the help.
Thanks,
Bill

header not correct on Index
If you include multiple records in the report selection there is only one index, so there is no record selected at the point the index is printed, hence the record function returns nothing.

header not correct on Index
It does not matter how many Records are selected.
Even if only one Record is selected the Index still ignores the one and only =Record() value.
However, I understand the problem the Index has.
This is another situation where Expressions should be allowed.
Then =TextIf() could be used to customise the Header depending on whether =Record() has a value or not.
A workaround is to set the Header to =Record() Descendants by Generation or simply =Record() =Title().
Then the Record Name is included on each page except the Index where only the Title appears.

Jane, thanks for the explanation. I only ever do one person, so hadn't thought of that problem.
Mike, while not a perfect solution, I do like your work around and will use it for now. Hopefully a change will be made in a future release to fix the problem.
Thanks,
Bill
