Do you have any family records which have no linked records, you should be able to see them on the Records Window Families tab. When you do the export it only exports family records which are linked to individual records.

It should export all Family Records if the Unconnected Records option is NOT ticked.
The Plugin Show Project Statistics reports among other things any Family Records without any linked Parents nor Children.

Jane, do you mean that in the family file that most have a mr & mrs some only contain just a mr and no mrs so is this that gives the false results

As long as the discard Unconnected Records option is NOT ticked it should not matter what each Family Record contains.
If you leave that option ticked, then other Records without links will also vanish, but you just have not noticed them yet.
What Jane is talking about is Family Records with NO Father and NO Mother and NO Children, i.e. NO links to other Individual Records at all.
The Plugin Show Project Statistics reports such unconnected Family Records.
It also reports total numbers of each Record type, etc, etc.

If you are using Show Project Statistics Version 1.3, then after using the Update Statistics button, and then the Close Plugin button, it should display a Result Set Exceptions Report.
Towards the end of the Result Set Exceptions Report should be listed 18 No Parent Family with/without Children reports.
Double-click on the (parents not known) on the left and its Family Record Property Box will open.
Also any One Parent Family without Children, or any No Parent Family with only one Child, may get omitted from a GEDCOM Export.
As you say, File > Gedcom File Tasks > Save a Gedcom File Copy correctly copies ALL Records (but NOT Media files).
Using File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File under Exclude there are options to exclude One-member Family Records and Unconnected records.
These are both ticked by default, and may account for your vanishing Records.
One-member Family Records include what Show Project Statistics calls One Parent Couples.
Untick both those options to retain Records.
Click the Help button for an explanation of the options.
Contrary to my earlier assumption, No Parent Family without Children will ALWAYS be excluded by Export > GEDCOM File as explained in the Help.
