Is anyone else having trouble installing the latest upgrade? It keeps getting stuck on the pdf bit. Never had any trouble before. Using Windows 7.

Any ideas?
thanks

Try uninstalling the PDF Printer components and then install FH again.

Use Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Wait for the program name list to populate.
Select each Family Historian PDF (novaPDF printer) (or similar) in turn and click Uninstall at the top.
There may be a version 6.1 and 7.7.

I suggest a PC Restart and then reinstall FH V5.0.9.

If that fails then completely uninstall FH and reinstall again as per How to (Re-)install Family Historian.

Deleting the pdf elements and then installing the upgrade worked. Thanks!

My upgrade took 'a few minutes' as it said, when it got to the pdf but it digested it in time, and then required a restart. Everything seems to be OK.

Yes mine seemed to freeze for about 3 minutes (seemed longer - watched kettle and all that), but eventually came to life and asked to reboot.

My upgrade went quick without any problems and when restarted all was OK.

I am on FH 5.0.6 on Windows 8 64 bit.

The installation of the download to 5.0.9 failed part way through with a popup Error: An error occurred when trying to delete the existing file [ C:Program Files (x86)Family HistorianProgramFh.exe} DeleteFile failed: code 5.

and retry was unsuccessful. I have checked the location of the existing Fh.exe and it was located correctly (and FH works well at 5.0.6 in Win 8.)

FH had been stopped as requested during the install.

No mention of failures in PDF printers.

Advice please.

Hi Tim,

This error usually means something has the file locked up. Have you tried re-booting your computer and doing the update?

Bill

Thank you Bill, after rebooting the upgrade to 5.0.9 worked fine.
