Easy way to delete last records added?
I made a mistake adding a large number of records merging 2 gedcoms together.
I did backup before I did the merge but restore doesn't seem to work and it isn't deleting the new records.
Is there an easy way of deleting all records with a record number greater than a certain number? I have tried a custom query but can't seem to get it to show more than one record (my not understanding the query structure).
Any help or advice?

Ignore this unless you want to answer.
I decided to take the bull by the horns and manually copy the files from the backup to the project folder using windows explorer and that has worked fine.
I wonder why the restore option isn't working in my install maybe that would be a better question.

For future reference, please see Delete A Large Number of Records (How To) in the Knowledge Base.

Have a look at Backup and Recovery in the Knowledge Base.
Are you performing the Backup/Restore using FH commands:
File > Backup/Restore > Small/Medium/Full Backup
and then
File > Backup/Restore > Restore
Which type of FH Backup did you use: Small, Medium, or Full?
In what way did the FH Restore not work?
You cannot simply Copy FH Backup files using Windows Explorer, because they are Compressed (zipped) Folders (.zip) and must be unpacked/extracted!

@PeterR I looked at that in the Knowledge Base BUT if you are relatively new to FH it doesn't exactly help. It would be nice if there was a proper worked example.
@tatewise I do a full back-up every time in FH. I used the FH in-built function (as mentioned by you) to do a restore and was told by the prog that it had done a restore BUT all the erroneous records were still present in the database.
As a result I unzipped the backup and did a manual (outside of FH) restore which got me back to where I wanted to be.

Did you read the bit about, when you Restore a Full Backup, then FH insists on creating a new Project?
This is because the Full Backup contains everything - GEDCOM, Media files, Public files, etc.
Did that happen?
Only this new Project will contain your earlier backed-up data.
Your merged current named Project will be untouched!
Does this ring a bell?
Finally, you would need to Delete the current named Project, and Rename the new Project, all via the File > Project Window > More Tasks.

FH told me it had created a new project BUT it didn't create the project that is the issue.

When FH offered to Restore Project From Backup what Location to Restore to: did you choose?
My experiments suggest that the location offered is the My DocumentsFamily Historian Projects folder, regardless of your current Location: for the Project Window, and regardless of the Backup/Restore folder path.
So, if you did NOT alter the Location to Restore to: to match your current Location: for Project Window, then the new Project would NOT appear in your Project Window, but would appear if you used More Tasks > Browse for Project and located it in the My DocumentsFamily Historian Projects folder.

DOH [oops][oops][oops] Thanks Mike that is where it is.
Seems a crazy thing to do why doesn't it store it in the project folder rather than a folder I never use?
