installing V5

I started using V2.1 several years ago and since then have bought or installed all the upgrades up to V4.1.3. I now want version 5 and would prefer to buy it anew rather than an upgrade. Will I have any problems installing it over V4, will doing this delete all the previous versions, and could any files disappear while I am installing it?
I know this is probably a very simple thing to do but I am worried I might lose some of my files!
Thanks in advance.

Please see
How to (Re-)install Family Historian.
There is no advantage of buying a
Full Licence over an
Upgrade Licence because from V5 you do NOT have to install all the previous versions.
Simply install the
V4 to V5 Upgrade and enter both your
V4 Licence and your
V5 Licence details - job done.
Installing V5 over V4 should NOT affect any of your files, but you presumably have backups of all your files in case of disaster.
Not just from installing V5, but hard disk failure, PC failure, etc, etc.

Regarding backups, have you backups of your FH Custom settings in the Program Data
...Calico PieFamily Historian... folders and FH Preference settings in the
Windows Registry?
If not, then use the
Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin to backup all those to a folder in the
Family Historian Projects folder.
