New V5 installation not saving

Post by juro1225 » 07 Dec 2012 13:24

I installed V5 last night, from the V4 to V5 upgrade.
Everything seemed to go great and V5 opened ok and I was able to open my gedcom into it.
I then installed the 5.0.7 upgrade and trie dto open my gedcom again. Same result; everything seemed ok.
I then opened my gedcom file as a new project. I'd not used a project in V4.
My gedcom opens ok from the project, but if I change anything and try to save, I get a message saying that the file cannot be saved and then tells me that it has saved it under a different name.
I don't understand why it's doing this and would like some assistance if possible, so I can start to use my new software.
Thanks

In order to save as a project, you must first create the new project, and then import your original gedcom file into it.

Is that the way you have worked?

New V5 installation not saving

Hi
Yes, that is the way I went.
Created a project, gave it a name, then imported my V4 gedcom file into it.
There seems to be various problems with anti-virus programs running in the background. I'm using AVG.
Thanks

New V5 installation not saving

Hi
I seem to have sorted my problem.
I deleted the project I created last night, have changed the project file and then re-created the project.
This seems to have done the trick.

Thanks

Pete
