Hello
I'm probably doing something stupid but...
I've just reinstalled FH5 on a new hard disk with a new installation of Win7. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, everything seems to work, all the custom items are there except the custom tabs. Having looked through a lot of the information here, I can't even see where they're meant to be stored. Any help gratefully recieved.

Restoring / Reinstalling Custom Tabs
See Understanding the Scope of Features.
Custom tabs are stored in C:ProgramDataCalico PieFamily HistorianProperty Box but are embedded in the Property Box definition files for each type of Record.
You can Export and Import the tab definitions as Project files.
You can use one of the Backup FH Plugins to preserve Property Box definition files.
How did you recover the other Custom items?
Have you backups, or an old PC with the FH customisations available?

Thanks Mike - problem now solved.
I'd just copied over the 'Custom' subdirectories from 'Program Files', wrongly assuming that all the custom items were there. (The old disk is still there - I like to install a new OS on a new disk)
I suppose it would be good to have a definitive list of where FH puts all the bits and pieces of data on the knowledge base, if someone suitably authoratative was so inclined. [smile]

Never copy from Program Files it is the ProgramData folder you want.
The problem is that different FH and Windows versions do it slightly differently.
May I suggest you use the techniques in Move Family Historian Settings & Projects especially the Version 5 Plugin.

Sorry - I meant 'Program Data'.
