Niall Enright produced some goods items for the Wish List. Some of them were already there - e.g. the option to open the Property Dialog fully expanded by default. One item should already be there in 2.0 though. This was:
>> Can you always offer the 'families' and 'multimedia' tabs on the records window - rather than having to select these from the main menu.
If you open the Record Window options dialog (e.g Tools menu, then Record Window Options), you will see a list of record types displayed in the Record Window. Change Families and Multimedia to 'Always show'. Press OK. Thereafter, families and multimedia will show in the Records Window.
The reason that they haven't remained there persistently (ie. from one session to the next) till now, is that if you click on View/Record Lists/Families (say), it will show Families in the Records Window, and it updates the Record Window Options according; but it doesn't save the new settings. So next time you use Family Historian, the old settings are used again. However, if you make the change in the Record Window Options dialog and then press OK, the change will be saved so that next time these settings will be used again.
Niall, I wasn't sure exactly what you wanted for item 6). This was:
>> 6) I would love to see the multimedia properties to be able to display the content of *.rtf, *.doc, *.pdf files which are associated with multimedia records (e.g. by using OLE or by launching the appropriate application on double-click).
If you select a multimedia object in the top-left pane of the multimedia window (or in the Multimedia tab of the Record Window), and click on Properties, the Property dialog opens to show you the properties for that object (e.g. which picture format it uses, if its a picture). Is that not what you want? If not, what bits are missing?

Hi,
I've been looking for a way to open on a Home Page ID automatically and an undo last entry on the edit menu (+further 'go backs')
I also wanted to show the Spouse on the Main Records Window but have only just read the ViewRecord ListsFamilies item so will go away and try that ! Regards, Chris

I have recently been entering a lot of data with dates in the Julian Calander.
The unfortunate thing is that in most date boxes on the Property Dialog you cannot see the full date.
eg. If the date is 23 July 1611 and you enter it as a Julian date the all you see is [Julian] 23. The box is not big enough.
Would it not be better to display 23 July 1611 [Julian]. The same applies to Record Lists when you have a lot of columns. and have narrow columns to see the data.
