Changing box colours on Charts : Simon Orde

In version 2.2 you will be able to copy a chart to the clipboard.  As of now, the only way you can do this by framing the diagram in a window and pressing Alt+Print Screen to copy the whole window image.  You can then use the Windows accessory program 'Paint' to trim off any bits you don't want. Not very satisfactory though.  The 2.2 solution will be much better - no date for that yet though.

2  Can I move boxes in diagrams to altered the spatial arrangement of the diagram lay-out? Sometimes this is useful when you want to display a long horizontal row of siblings as a vertical group of boxes - the aim, of course, to fit a page. It is also a feature of most 'tree' programs.
No.  Its on the Wish List though.

3  Can I generate a diagram in which the text of ALL boxes is black but the BACKGROUND (fill colour) of the box is blue for a male and pink or a female? I know this may sound a bit naff but I want to maintain the style that I have been using in my book to date.

Its a bit fiddly but you can do it:

(1) Create a custom query called 'Females' which returns all (and only) the females in the database.  There is help in the User Manual about creating custom queries.
There is a query called All Females in the query Store which does this
(2) Open a diagram, right click on the background and select on 'Diagram Colours'.  Set all the colours that begin 'Text - ...' to black.  Set all the colours that begin 'Box - ...' to blue, except set the colour 'Box - marked' to pink.  Press OK to save these colours.  All boxes will now have a blue background and black text.
(3) Click on Diagram > Marks > Set/Clear Marks Using Query.  Use your  new 'Females' query to mark all the female boxes pink.

Not ideal I know.  At some point I hope to see what can be done to provide more flexible options for marking/setting colours.
