Resizing a diagram to fit the paper

Some people have found the instructions in the manual for resizing a diagram for printing to a printer or to programs like PDF995 to create single page documents a little complex below are a few hopefully simple instructions.
First display the diagram and show the page boundaries.
Using left click move the page boundaries so that the diagram starts in the top left corner of a page.
Now right click on the bottom right corner of the first page and holding the right button drag the bottom right corner down until the diagram fits on a single page.
This will also work to resize a big diagram for any sort of printing.
When printing to PDF files and wanting a single page, do not forget to select the largest page size supported. That way your pictures will be of the best quality.

I am getting myself in a muddle over printing a diagram.
I have tried the method in your 'resizing a diagram' faq, but cannot get the same result as you suggest. When I right click the bottom r.h. corner of page 1, I get a menu come up, which gets in the way of trying to move the page boundary.
I have a long flat diagram, and what I am trying to achieve is to produce a custom diagram which will allow me to print on continuous paper (length not a problem) a diagram which is A4 width high (in other words A4 landscape).
Regards,
Jonathan Gary

You need to hold the right button down
to move the corner and not release it. If you right click and release you get the menu.

Many thanks, but I still have a problem.
Maybe I am doing something incorrectly, but I can't move the page boundaries with the left mouse button to get the tree into the top left hand corner of the 1st page; also nothing happens when I click and drag with the right button - no cross arrows to indicate I am on the edge of the page. I have gone back to using 2.2.4, and chap 6 of the tutorial just in case I have put a real life file together incorrectly.

Same with me - left click on the diagram to move the page boundaries has no effect at all

You are holding the mouse button down on the corner and moving the mouse while holding the button down aren't you?

Thought I'd add to this even though a bit old now. Jane, your instructions work fine, I'm using verson 2.3.1.

I have no problem with page boundaries.
But I would like to be able to move some of the individual boxes a short way.

To my embarrassment, I find I neglected to thank you, Jane, for the advice you gave me on this subject some two years ago. May I now, very belatedly, say 'many thanks for your help' ?
Unfortunately, at that time events occurred which took me away from further researching my family history, but now I am back in a position where I can do so.
I have tried again to resize to a single page, but find that, on grabbing the bottom right hand corner with the right mouse button, the page will only resize proportionately to its original shape (A4 landscape), which gives me a diagram with a massive amount of blank space below the diagram, and is beyond the capacity of the continuous printer I hope to use. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong ?

Just saw your message. You need to configure your printer, to the page size you want to use prior to setting the position of the chart.

I am hoping to publish the trees of connected families I have to my own family tree, perhaps through my family society or self pub. For the last couple of weeks I have concentrated on trying to format the diags onto A4 size,& have mastered the various ways available for doing this - ie setting the specs, moving trees & boxes on the page etc etc. However, I am completely at a loss as to how to get a fair amount of info on A4 size without having huge spaces at the bottom of the page, or reducing/changing type size & diags without getting something too small to read.
I would prefer to publish top down charts. If I could alter some of the vertical lines to go horizontal at some point it would be an improvement.
I really need to be able to have the results in Word format, or something similar so I can alter, cut & paste as necessary.
Am I going to be able to do this? & is Version 4 going to be of any help?
