Posted: 04 Dec 2002 10:15
Hello All,Well a week has passed since the last newsletter, so as the site is still new I thought I would put out another one. Firstly a big thank you to all of you who joined up this week. We now have over 140 members and 130 plus on the mailing list.A few new things on the site this week.In the Query StoreRelated HowA query to find the relationship between 2 people. I find the best way to use this one is to call query from the records window or a diagram, with the person selected go up to the view menu, click queries then custom queries then Related How. This defaults the selected person in and you only need to select the second one using the drop down list.Web CleanThis query highlights all people that are living, who can optionally be excluded where they are descended from any of 4 people. The use this to remove living people not descended from my or my husbands grandparents.ArticlesI have added a short article about putting your Family Historian information on the web. Along with the links to the tools I use. I will be delighted to see a few comments and hints from other web users, so come on click that comment link.LinksIf you use programs to generate your web pages why not add them to the Links page. Just click on links, then the Category you want to put them in and click add. Do not worry if you put them in the wrong place I can always move them later. In addition to the links to the programs I use to publish my web site, I have also added the all the reviews of Family Historian I could find on the web, it is quite interesting to compare them all. If you know of any others, why not add them too.Forums Still very quiet here. Why not try it out by putting a message in the General message board. I think the forums are easy to use, if you have any problems send me a message and I will try to help.I know the mailing list has been quiet of late, so I guess everyone is busy with other things. Please come and try out the new things on the site, when you can.JaneFamily Historian User Group Portal WebmasterP.S If you have not read Phil's article on the 1901 census, please take a look at it, it is in the editorial section of the Articles.
