There appears to be a bug in release candidate 5.0.4. I downloaded 5.0.0
yesterday and imported a GEDCOM and
my notes appeared to be formatted
correctly. One note read:
1851 Allendale Town, Northumberland
1861 Broadwood Hall, Allendale
1891 Lanchester Jnt Hospital, Bunker Hill, Leadgate
1901 509 Leadgate, Leadgate, Co Durham
1911 10 Stanley Road, West Hartlepool
Today I upgraded to 5.0.4 and the above note now reads
1851 Allendale Town, Northumberland1861 Broadwood Hall, Allendale1891 Lanchester Jnt Hospital, Bunker Hill, Leadgate1901 509 Leadgate, Leadgate, Co Durham1911 10 Stanley Road, West Hartlepool
Some notes are OK, many are affected as above - it's as if the 'CONT' tags are being read as 'CONC'.
I've uninstalled 5.0.4 and reinstalled 5.0.0 and my notes are correct again.
Of course, I'm very new to Family Historian, so I may be screwing up, but I can't see how.

I can't reproduce this, can anyone else?

I have now reproduced this and passed it to calico.
As this a pretty major bug please don't install V5.0.4 at the moment or if you do avoid going into note fields.

This is just to say that we have confirmed that there is indeed a bug in 5.0.4 as reported, which can have the effect that line endings in notes can be lost. We will put up a fix for this as a matter of urgency.

We have now created a new patch (5.0.5) which fixes the bug that BrianP discovered in 5.0.4. We strongly recommend everyone who upgraded to 5.0.4 to upgrade again now to 5.0.5 (see
http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... ee-upgrade).

I haven't downloaded the 5.0.4 update yet; should I just download the 5.0.5 on top of my installed 5.0.2 or should I download the 5.0.4 followed by the 5.0.5 update?

I should point out that I never knew there was a 5.0.4 update. I have just received an FHUG newsletter recommending that I upgrade to 5.0.5
Do I need to upgrade to 5.0.4 first? I cannot find a version of 5.0.4 to download.
There is no guidance I can find to explain whether 5.0.4 has been withdrawn and replaced by 5.0.5
Help please

You can always update to the latest version as long as your current version number begins with 5. However, there is now a version 5.0.6 available so upgrade to that!
