Resources for Potential Purchasers

This article is designed for people who have not yet bought Family Historian and draws together links to several resources from this site and others to provide an introduction to Family Historian.
The Family Historian Product Site
This is Calico Softwares own site and provides details of the programme and purchase options.
Calico Software's Family Historian Site

This now includes the Demo version of Family Historian
Family Historian 4.1 Trial Version Download Page

On this site in the How to's section you will find a selection of tutorials for some aspects of Family Historian.

Mailing ListThe mailing list archive can also be a useful resource, but it should be remembered that it is a 'negative' or problem driven area, for example you will find very few threads which are praise based, as much of the lists time is taken with people's problems with using FH.

Jane

The hyperlink for the slide show takes me to the Dick Eastman page, is this correct? I couldn't find a slide show there.

No quick way of returning to the home page of fhug. Should there not be a link?

I currantly have family historian V3 which was upgraded from my Family Historian V2. My question is can I purchase a further upgrade to take my Family Historian V3 to V4, or do I need to purchase a full version of Family Historian V4.

You can purchase the upgrade, how ever some people have preferred to purchase the full version to simplify re-installing should the need arrives, but it is possible to install V2 and upgrade to V3 and then upgrade to V4

Many thanks for your reply, I think it may be prudent to go for the full version, as purchasing V4 upgrade would mean that each time Family Historian is to installed V2 would be to installed, then V3 and finally V4 with the possibility of corruption if one of the discs is damaged in anyway.I have had to reinstall programmes several times in the past due to problems with my PC hence my reluctence to go down the upgrade way now.

Again Many Thanks.

Recently I bought a new computer and in the changeover my copy of F H 4 was completely lost although I have the saved data!! I think.
I wanted to upgrade to V5 when it is available together with its manual.
Can you allow me to download a copy of V4 and pay for copy of V5 now or would it be prudent for me to buy a hard copy of V4 which would include V5 when published.
I have been an enthsiastic member/supporter of the program from its early introduction.
