There have been a few reports of problems with installation similar to the following.  If you are having problems please review the information contained in the links below.

The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications

This is a known problem.  It means almost certainly that a small part of
your version of Windows has become corrupted.  It doesn't mean that you have
or have had a virus though, and it may be fairly easy to fix.  You may want
to have a look at this

If you have Norton products (e.g. Norton AntiVirus), you might also consider
doing a search in the Support area of the Symantec website
() for '16-bit subsystem' you will find a number of
documents referring to it.


For techies
It should be noted this is a problem with the install routine rather than the program its self which is 32bit, Calico are addressing the problem in that the latest updates are being created by a newer installation program which does not use the 16 bit application area at all.

I have just upgraded to version 3 and the upgrade programme checks for an installed version 2. This will present a problem when I upgrage my computer to a 64 bit version (either XP64 or Vista) since the 16 bit installation programme for version 2 won't run on those systems. The alternative approach (used by Microsoft for their upgrade products) is to check for valid installation media for the earlier version.

Later V2.1 CDs use the 32bit installer anyway. I believe there is a now a mechanisum in place to deal with people who have older V2 CDs and need to install to Windows 64.

only till the last page does version 4 works then I get the error mesage 123. The download promptly stops. Then the update or down load does not recognise the key.(version 3)and it is back to square one. Without the Key for Version 4 I cannot use the download 4.2.1. I am
a learner and is just a bit frustrating. Help

John V4 is a paid for upgrade. Do you have a V4 key?

If you do, try deleting the downloaded version and re-downloading.
