Version 2.2 is finished and all 2.0 and 2.1 users can now download a free
upgrade to it. We recommend everyone to do this because 2.2 is a
significant upgrade and contains a host of new features.
You can download the upgrade from the Family Historian Website (at
http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downloads) or alternatively exactly the same
upgrade program can also be downloaded from the Family Historian User Group
website (at http://www.familyhistorian.ip3.com).

this link: http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... in_221.htm
If you have any questions you want to ask or issues you want to raise,
either about the upgrade program, or about 2.2, you can either post an email
to this mailing list, or if you prefer, the Family Historian User Group
website now has a new forum for discussing any aspect of version 2.2 and you
can post a message there.
By my reckoning, version 2.2 includes about 20 of the items on the Family
Historian User Group Wish List (see the website), of which 5 were in the top
10 last time I looked. So do keep contributing to the Wish List. We check
it periodically and try to implement Wish List items where we can.
While I am on the subject of the Family Historian User Group website, I do
recommend anyone who hasn't already joined it to do so. It has a wealth of
facilities for Family Historian users. In the past you have been able to
download custom queries* from the website (or upload them). In 2.2,
installing custom queries has been made much easier - you just open or
double-click on the downloaded query file. Now you will also be able to
download (or upload) custom text schemes. Text schemes are the items in the
'Scheme' drop-down list at the top of the Text tab of the Diagram Options
dialog. They determine what goes into boxes in diagrams. Usually they're
straightforward, but it is possible to create all kinds of clever and
complex text schemes if you want to. If you don't feel up to that, you may
in the future find that someone else has done it for you on the FHUG and you
can just download the text scheme you want. Like custom queries, custom
text schemes (and for that matter, custom reports and custom diagrams) are
now very easy to install.
[* if you don't know what a query is, they're described in Chapters 11 and
12 of the User Manual]
Finally, I would just like to say thank you very much to the hard-working
users who beta tested Family Historian 2.2 for us, especially to Jane
Taubman and John Hanson. Jane Taubman incidentally runs the Family Historian
User Group website and contrary to what some people seem to believe does not
work for us.

As one of those who requested this, I am disappointed that it is still possible to enter 32 May 1870, for example, as a date and FH 2.2 *still* does not object to this invalid date.
