Having just had a quick look at the new features I can't wait to get my hands on it! I will have to be patient something I don't do that well, but this hobby is helping me improve!!! It sounds like you've been very busy Simon. I for one will be placing my order for an update as soon as I see how to do it.

I don't know why but I had it in my mind that we would be ordering updates directly from Calico but when I looked on the linked shops for the Christmas offer there were the upgrades, I've ordered mine from TWR, the first time I have ordered from them.

I'll be ordering my upgrade from TWR probably. I've already used them for a Census CD and, bless them, they couldn't supply on the expected release date as Ancestry fouled up, good & proper. However, almost as soon as they received stock, so did I!
I can't wait for the new features in v3 and, when I've taken out a second mortgage for the ink cartridges, I'll print out my tree produced with v3!

Simon has obviously spent time studying the wish list. I look forward to the many enhancements he has listed for diagrams and just how much customisation will be possible.

Ouch! I've only just paid good money for FH 2.3 so I guess I'll pass on paying another £24 even though the features look good.

I bought my copy of FH 2.3.5 from twrcomputing on 31 October and they confirm that I will not be eligible for the free upgrade to ver 3. What is the full retail cost of ver 3? How this compares with the £38.95 that I have already paid and the £23.95 for the upgrade might determine whether I bother.

Does anybody know if a demo version will be available (like the current one), as i would see what advantages the new version has before buying it ?

I am very much looking forward to this, and it sounds like it will be supplying so much of what people are wanting. I think the price is fine and a real bargain: £23.95 for the update seems a good deal to me.

I thought I saw a notice posted about a demo of version 3 being available to members. I can't find it. Help Please.

There is no demo for V3, there is a demo for Version V2.3 on the main Family Historian Site. I would not expect a demo for V3 until at least the release of V3.

Is there any news yet on the availability of a download of the V3 upgrade? And its price?

I have just been re-reading the new features in version 3. Only encouraged my impatience to get my hands on it! It is obviously delayed, but when can we expect it?

Simon confirmed on rootsweb mailing list that there has been a delay until February but he did not given a target for when in Feb, once bitten twice shy I suppose. Although I'm itching to get at V3 I'm sure it's best to have a slightly delay than have problems with the initial release. As someone that has worked in software companies for a number of years I have often seen the most innocuous looking change or one new test case that can create a lot of extra work so delays unfortunately do happen.

Simon's message was:

Sat, 21 Jan 2006 15:03:01

'Dear All

I'm sorry to say that Family Historian 3 has been delayed and we are now
expecting it to be released some time in February. I apologise for this
delay - software release dates are sometimes hard to predict.

My Family, my supplier, have let me know today, 15/02/06, the following: 'Calico Pie the publishers of Family Historian have told us that it is now likely to be around the end of February when the upgrade and new editions are ready. I think its more to do with last minute production rather than the program itself.'

The best product on the market is soon to get better.

Hi there. New to the website and very keen to treat myself to the FH database that I have heard so much about. Am I correct in thinking that the latest release is V3.1.1 or is another release imminent?

I want to purchase a copy this week but would like to clarify that I am getting the most recent release.

Looking forward to reading my way through the forums, but more so to buying the product and getting my existing data transferred!!!
