Update on Version 3
Simon Orde
In my last update on version 3, I said we were now expecting FH3 to be out in February. At this point, I'm sorry to say, it's looking to be towards the end of February at the earliest, and could well slip back into March.
My apologies once again.

I can wait! If it were to be March, I could treat it's arrival from TVR as a birthday present!

Update on Version 3
I can wait til the end of March after that I will go and buy one of the rivals. I sincerely hope after these false dawns that the price will not go up! Even version 3 does not have some of my wish list items from 2004.I worked for 6 years in two software houses so I know what the delivery of software can be like. However it would have been unacceptable to any of my clients to announce software in November for delivery in January and then in Febuary have no firm delivery date. Good luck with the code. It better be perfect after these missed deliver times.
Update on Version 3
I currently work for a software house, and know how software releases can be delayed for reasons completely outside the control of the coders - mass production problems, distribution, etc.
Even if the current delays are down to coding issues, then which would you rather have; a buggy version now with several updates over the coming months, or a stable working version in a months time? Give the guys a break, they're not delaying things deliberately. If you haven't ordered V3 yet then you're not losing out financially by it being delayed.
I'm waiting patiently for V3 as it contains many things on my personal wishlist, but I'm happy to wait for a stable version rather than a rushed-out buggy version.

... but please hurry...

Sounds like Jehosophat has a touch of the modern day syndrome: I want it and I want it now !
I've been in IT for over 43 years, probably longer than he's been alive, and there is no question that patience is the answer. You only have to look at the mess some other well known software suppliers have created to realise how important it is to get each new release as right as you can BEFORE you go live.
I'll go along with Graham, I've waited a few months for an update to the best recording system I could find, a couple more are not going to make such a difference.

Update on Version 3
I would like 3.0 now and then 3.1 in March. You guys posting seem to have forgotten that we had 2.0 then 2.1 then 2.2 then 2.3 then 2.35 .... I agree it is never going to be perfect but I am 50 soon and I dont want to wait for ever. Lets have what is tested and working now. If there is no real certainty in delivery of the software I might as well buy Family Tree now especially as the one report that I want is not in FH v3.

No doubt you have checked that FT does everything required, especially that critical report.
You must surely be aware that because it was available early on the market, very many of us started with FT but have never regretted our subsequent move to Historian. Take my advice Jehosphat dont jump out the Historian frying pan into the Fire.
Jomac.

Update on Version 3
I don't often take part in online arguements, but in this case I am firmly on Jomac's side. I retired 15 years ago due to ill health, I'm still only 66, but I now realise that a lot of my troubles were caused by over anxious bosses that wanted everything yesterday. I used to programme computers for Norweb when we were pioneering the then new concept, of a desk top PCs for all. Our main guide line from management was to create a 'paperless office'
It gives me a lot of pleasure now at what was such an obsurd directive. Sorry to waffle , but it does make sense to me to wait that little bit longer and enjoy the benefits of a well developed programme, which no doubt may still not satify all, but can always be 'massaged' again in the future. I also think that to criticise someone for problems that are not of their own making is a bit below the belt.
Jane Admin is at least keeping us up to date. 'Patience is a virtue'.
Please excuse my poor spelling no checker !!

Update on Version 3
My Family, my supplier, have let me know today, 15/02/06, the following: 'Calico Pie the publishers of Family Historian have told us that it is now likely to be around the end of February when the upgrade and new editions are ready. I think its more to do with last minute production rather than the program itself.'
The best product on the market is soon to get better.

Update on Version 3
'My Family' should be 'My History'. Yet a another senior moment!
Update on Version 3
I have just read through the comments on the delays re Version 3, having spent very many years dealing with software that had been rushed out too soon all I can say is 'take your time' I'm nearly 60 and I can certainly wait another month or so if needs be to get version 3. I look forward to seeing the update on what is already an excellent product.

Update on Version 3
I'm hoping Calico Pie will be updating their website soon with some screen shots to show off their new unique features and whet everyone's appetite.
Hopefully that would then herald the availability of V3!
