V4.1 Release Candidate Now Available.

Post by admin » 20 Mar 2010 09:08

Announcement by Simon Orde of Calico Pie

We will shortly be releasing version 4.1. This will be available as a free downloadable upgrade for version 4 users only. The upgrade will not work if you don't have version 4.

If you have version 4 and don't want to wait, a release candidate of 4.1 is available for download now at:

http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... ade-to-4-1

To learn about what's new in 4.1, see:

In case you're wondering what the difference is between a release and a 'release candidate', the answer is: hopefully nothing. If no serious problems are found, the version that is currently called a 'release candidate' will be the official release version when we announce it.

I expect that v4.1 is probably very far along at this point. Don't know if there is time/interest, etc. in adding a couple of 'should be no brainers' that would be REALLY be of great help:

The drop down history feature.

The 'catch a duplicate name before it happens' feature. Should be as easy as the 'this age is really whacko - are you sure' item.

I see Simon has been watching some of the forum posts so knows some of the things that REALLY BUG US.

Promise NOT to nag any more. Thanks!

Hi Simon,

Can you please say when you will declare the RC to be stable please ? I'm not having a problem with anything at the moment using V4.02, but will obviously upgrade when the RC is declared stable.

I see there is already a 4.1.1 ?

Cheers,
Geoff.
