Calico Pie today released details of version 5 of Family Historian, the UK's leading genealogy software program. The new version is due for release in February 2012, but thanks to a Christmas offer, anyone who buys Family Historian 4 now from a participating stockist, or as a download, will get a free upgrade to version 5 when released.

What's New in Version 5  
NOTE
There will be an upgrade from V4-V5 available to purchase for existing V4 users, which will be cheaper than the V5 Full program when it comes out, so if you don't need a copy of V4, just wait until V5 is released in the new year.

'Anyone who purchases a licence for the download version of version 4 will be entitled to a free downloadable upgrade to version 5 when it is released.'

I can't find any mention anywhere about how much this costs. The full box set is priced, but the download surely lust be cheaper?!

The prices for the full copy is on the store page of the web site, in the UK, international users need to click on the buy now to see the price for their country.

The Box set is priced on the resellers sites and is normally around the same price as the download.

Upgrades are cheaper.

What is the price of an existing 4 user to 5 please

The upgrade price is not announced yet as you can't yet purchase it, I would imagine it will be similar to the V3-V4 upgrade currently available.

Any news of when version 5 will be released?
