Re: RM Place details in FH
Pete - are you implying that RM could provide a list of all subsidiary places in Milwaukee? A standard list provided by RM? Because FH doesn't have access to any list like that - you have to enter all the places and addresses yourself (or import them as part of an imported tree).

Re: narrative reports use italics for children's data
I don't know how to turn the italics off (I can't find any setting in v6 for that) but I thought it might be useful to explain what I think is the reason why those entries are different. Basically, if you ask for a two generation report (say), the children are an extra, third, generation. To highlig...

Re: How to add a citation to a family relationship
Jeremy - Mike's comments about the learning curve prompt me to add that no-one but no-one ever gets their processes right first time. So don't be afraid to try something and look back at it later and say, "Why did I make such a meal of it?" - or the opposite, "How and why on earth did I decide that?...

Re: How to add a citation to a family relationship
It isn't a dumb question - it's surprisingly complicated if and when you sort through the possibilities. That's not to mention do you want to see the citation / assessment / whatever in various places? Just to consider the complexity - I knew that my 3G-GF was John Cooper and (from his marriage) tha...

Firstly see me setting up (in v6 ) the role "Prosecutor" for my Court Martial event: Screenshot 2021-02-10 162346.jpg You will see that the Past Tense is Prosecuted (wit...
Re: GRO query
When the GRO compiled its new index, they changed the rules. Cynically, I've often said that I'm not convinced that they knew that they'd changed the rules! One of the changes made was to the indexing of a child with unmarried parents where both are named. Originally the child was indexed twice, und...
Re: GRO query
Using FreeBMD, there are 6 entries indexed on p.492. There are, however, only 5 entries on a register page. Therefore one has been indexed twice - the only possibility is Harry, viz: Births Mar 1930 (>99%) Buckley Hazel Parker Halifax 9a 492 Hammond Harry R Hall Halifax 9a 492 Johnson Harry R Hall H...

Would it help to add a sentence in whatever notes show up in the diagram, saying "Stepchild of Fred Bloggs later on"? Keep it simple?

Re: Default settings Focus Window /Property Box
The fact that the task bar on the left appears to be black, and the one on the right is blue suggests a difference in the Windows colours. I have just spent some time trying to find the settings again and I believe that the story is: In Windows, go to Settings / Personalisation / Colours I have set ...

Re: Citation specific fields in Bibliography
Jackie - I'm slightly confused over what you want. Do you want just one source-record that covers all the personal Facebook pages that you have used as sources? Because if you do, then the Bibliography will just include one entry for Facebook. That's the way it's supposed to work - one Bibliography ...

From my v6, I can confirm that you can create a new place via the Places tab - and then delete it again. Oddly though, it was ages before I found that out - you have to do it via a ri...

Re: Additional Untitled Sources
Adrian, With regards to place records, they shouldn’t be classed as ‘Empty’ if they contain a Placename! You’re possibly confusing Empty with Unused/uncited😀 Once a place record has a name (and possibly geocoding), it is not empty, so would escape the Garbage collector! ... You're just illustrating...

... Also if it is not a record, why would my suggested garbage collection affect it? It would only apply to blank Records !
