adding a given name for those individuals with no given name
Is there a way with the Search and Replace plugin to add a given name such as UNKNOWN or ? to all individuals that currently have no given names? I thought maybe this could be done using LUA pattern mode, but couldn't figure out if it could be done. If not with the plugin, is there an easy way to ac...

Re: Census Data references
Marlene, I'm glad that worked for you. I'm not really that good with expressions and references, but this is how Mike (Tatewise) explained it to another person in another posting. "In Gedcom both Note Records and Local Notes use the NOTE tag, but the former have an @N99@ link value while latter...

Re: Census Data references
Marlene,
Not sure if it is what you are looking for, but I have a census tab that lists date and place for up to 10 census facts. To show the note for the first I use the following:
%INDI.CENS[1].NOTE2[1]%
For the second I use:
%INDI.CENS[2].NOTE2[1]%
etc.

Re: Mysterious doubling of file size
Dave,
I believe this is due to FH 6 using UTF-16 as its default file format. This makes the file twice as large. You can override this to UTF-8 using Tools > Preferences > File Load/Save and clicking on Save in UTF-8 file format.

Re: Printing List of D.O.B.
Ed, One way is to use the standard query called Birthdays (all) . From the toolbar select View > Standard Queries > Birthdays (all) . Then click on the printer icon in the Query toolbar. If you want the Month , Day , and Year of Birth together, then create a new Custom Query. First save the query by...

Hi,
The citation information is stored in the gedcom file which is in the project. I don't know what might be causing your problem though.

I believe these options are only available if you are working with an FH project not just a gedcom. When you start FH does it show Family Historian Project or Family Historian GEDCOM in the title bar?

Re: Modify children view in focus window
I just want to reiterate what I said earlier. I do not want to lose the full date here. If adding the place means changing the date from full date to just the year, I would be against this change. If there is an option to show either the full date or the year, then it would be fine.

For the age at death there is also a standard query. Use View > Standard Queries > Age at Death (all).

Re: Age of all individuals
David,
What age do you want? If you want current age, that only works for people who are still alive. If you want age at death, that only works for people who are dead for which you know the actual birth date and death date. Can you give more detail on what you actually want?

Re: Places - Deleting all occurrences
Gary, If you truly want to delete the place entirely from your database, then go to the Records Window and select the Places tab. Then find the place name, select it, and hit your delete key. This will remove the place record from the database while leaving any records that used that place name. Bill

Susan, Do you still have the installation file for version 6 that you downloaded from the internet? Use that file to install version 6 and when it asks, put in the license information for version 5 and version 6. You would have received these license keys in the emails that you received at the time ...

Yes. Select the note you want and then go to the toolbar and select View > Record Links.... This will show you all the records that are linked to this note. The same thing works on the other tabs as well.

Re: Entering multiple dates of birth for one individual.
Hi skykuai, Welcome to the FHUG. I would not create a second birth event. I would use the most likely ...

This would also be a great opportunity to have Family Historian work with Ancestry.com the same way that Roots Magic is going to. This would also be a great opportunity for Family Historian to pick up more users.
