Re: Expression for Residence / Census
BTW: Topics 22858|Get a list of people from Project 1 to Project 2 and 22844|Search and delete duplicate Events? seem to be incomplete! Two plugins can help you change Fact types. If you only have a few Residence facts that need to be changed to Census events use the Change Specific Fact Tag plugin ...

The posting by Viper1812 has been split off to thread Search and delete duplicate Family (22891) as it is more complex than just a duplicate Event.

Are you downloading from https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7 and then right-click the installation .exe file and choose Run as administrator . Are you following the FHUG KB Family Historian Copy and Migration Guide and the similar guide for AS? See also Family Historian Installation Problems...

Re: Expression for Residence / Census
Would you be interested in converting those Residence facts to Census events? If so then I can explain how to use the Change Any Fact Tag plugin. It is a common mistake to think =ContainsText(...) will search a nominated field. It only searches records. So use the =FindText(...) function instead or ...

Re: Generate an exportable list of Source Templates
Teresa, some techniques avoid you needing a separate list. If you sort the Source Template records in the Records Window the way you want them then that is the order they will be presented when you want to select a Source Template. In the Select Source Template Record dialogue you can use the Update...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
Gary, your test highlights my 'rant' about inconsistency. {%SOUR.~NM-MAIN_AUTHOR: ... %} allows any qualifier defined in the Name Formats help. {Main_Author: ... } only allows :REVERSE, :GIVEN & :SURNAME as defined in the Source Template Formats help. {%SOUR.~NM-MAIN_AUTHOR:GIVEN_ALL%} is semant...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
No, you cannot use the :GIVEN_ALL qualifier because that is not supported by template Name type fields. Only the :GIVEN qualifier is allowed on template Name fields as specified in the Source Template Formats help. However, it acts the same as :GIVEN_ALL and lists everything except the /Surname/. I ...

Re: Search and delete duplicate Events?
Yes, that is right. It is sometimes difficult to judge the experience of users who post questions. These latest screenshots reveal interesting differences that need careful handling. So I'm glad we persevered. The upper family have a Marriage date but no place and one child Robert MASON Rec Id [ 141...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
As Adrian suggested, it may need two fields. 1) a Name type template field for the 1st author that supports the :GIVEN and :SURNAME qualifiers. 2) a Text type template field for any other authors. Then I think a Footnote template and a Bibliography template would be straightforward. e.g. Footnote: {...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
The crux of the matter is surely that organisation names appearing in a :REVERSE "author" item get treated as if they were a human name. In other words, "Great Western Railway" gets shown (by default) as "Railway, Great Western". Which isn't the end of the world in tha...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
In my defence m'lord, the OP said nothing about Strathclyde format or the Source generic Author field. So when names were mentioned I assumed templated Name type fields were being discussed, especially as the :REVERSE qualifier was mentioned which only applies to Name type fields. As I said, if an e...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
IMO Names should always be entered in Name fields using the FH/GEDCOM convention Given /Surname/ Then the template formats can decide whether default normal order or :REVERSE order is needed in the citation. It should all become clear if Gary posts some example Name data and the Bibliography format ...

In your earliest screenshot, you showed information similar to the red-outlined data below. What we need to see is information similar ...

Re: Overriding ":REVERSE" in a bibliography
In a bibliography, peoples names are typically shown with the last name first and terminated by a period. eg. "White, George." That is not my experience. The default is given names and surname without any period. If there is a Name type field Principal holding George James /White/ I get t...

Re: How to generate a list of ALL names
Yes, that is quite an old plugin and does not correctly handle UTF-8 Unicode accented letters and symbols. It will substitute a ? for any accented letter such as your Polish diacritics but otherwise I think it works OK. Ideally, it needs to be updated for FH V7 standard plugin mode and support UTF-8...

Yes, but in FH V7 the option to Select Marked Boxes is built into the Set/Clear Marks using Query dialogue so does not need an extra step.

Re: Tabulating Templated Source data fields
The Where Used Record Links plugin must cope with multiple templated sources so uses Field numbers.
An enhancement could be to use template field Names when only a single template is involved.
Can you please supply an example of the missing data issue.

Re: Research Notes Links count shows zero
At this moment I cannot see that it is useful to know links in, if you cannot see where the source links are, presuming them to be in other documents, (how to find them unless of course they have backlinks). To find links in use View > Record Links... or run the Where Used Record Links plugin. See ...

Anyway, I suspect the plugin does not even use the Essentials - Civil Registration Index - Citation-specific fields.

Sorry Mark, but you are still missing my point. How would you select the Source records in your first attachment? Re: Question about scope of records handled by A.S.
Chris, you are correct that it often takes much more software sweat & tears to modify the UI than the data rules. Your enhancements are quite neat but I suspect they still do not use any Citation Templated Metafields. Different users may define different Citation Metafields for GRO Index data, s...
