Re: Fixed: Knowledge Base error message

Yes, I can confirm what Mike has said.
I'm sure we are not alone in using the www version, because if you do a google search for FHUG the results at the top are the www ones!

Re: PDF Printing

I have never seen the Select Profile dialog. I only ever see the Family Historian PDF - Save PDF File As dialogue, whether Saving as PDF or Printing to PDF printer. However the default location and the default file name are different in the two cases (why?) Save as PDF puts the file in the Public fo...

Re: Merge different family trees plus all the associated information

If you open the Records Window on its Families tab, I suspect you will find duplicate records for Gill and her husband Ted. If the Families tab is not shown then use Tools > Preferences > Records Window options to Always show it. Jerry has already said "There are no duplicates in the various t...

Re: Merge different family trees plus all the associated information

I suspect there are several different reasons for what you are seeing, and the solutions will be different. For example: Near the centre top of your screenshot you have Gill LAWTON married twice to the same person, so their children are displayed twice. If you are sure that you don’t have duplicate ...

I never use the plugin but I have just checked the details in the plugin store and the illustration shows a tick box for Close on 'Save Entry To File' ? so if you untick that it won't close AS after each save.

I have never seen it do that, but I always open and close AS directly. Perhaps you open AS via Mike's plugin? Is there an option in that to close AS automatically?

Re: Closing AS

I think the point is that AS and FH behave differently. In AS, the file will be reloaded before you can close AS. Whereas when the file has been modified by AS and you return to FH you are asked (by FH) if you want to reload it. So in FH you can say 'No' and simply close FH. You can't do that in AS.

Re: Unable to float Property Box

Is it possible that the last time you floated the Property box you moved it out of the way to the very edge of the screen (or onto a second screen, if you have two screens)? If so, then when you floated it again it would have gone back to that position.

Re: How to restore boxes

I’m glad you have found the solution :D. FH has various ways of navigating to people who are not your direct relatives. For example in one of your original screenshots you showed the Ancestors tab of the Focus window, displaying John Lazarus’s ancestors. If you click on any of the boxes in that tab ...

Re: How to restore boxes

Was Louisa Ball the first wife or the second wife of John Lazarus? You say that John’s first marriage produced a daughter who is related to your family. Your diagram is showing that Louisa had at least one child with her other husband William Harris, but she had no children with John Lazarus. Theref...

I’m guessing that he was not born in the UK, as I can’t find any birth indexed under that name in the UK. Is it possible he might have been living in the UK in 1939? If so, you could try to find him in the UK 1939 Register (which can be searched on Ancestry or FindmyPast). He would have been 21 in 1...

Re: How to restore boxes

Hello, welcome to FHUG. You say you have removed the ancestors from John Lazarus but then ask how to get the descendants of Joh Lazarus back into your tree. Does he have any descendants recorded? Or did you mean that his ancestors are not showing? Your Image FHP1 shows that John Lazarus is included ...

At the top of the Citation Window or the Source Property Box there is a cog wheel icon. It offers a menu including Show Source Record's Citations in Results Window. Does that help?

Re: Adding a Source for Media

Jean, as KFN said earlier in this thread, "One of the issues presented with a source->media->source is that they can become circular!" In Chris’s case (and perhaps in yours too?) the image is not an image of the source . He wants to record the source of the image , i.e. where he got it fro...

Re: Adding a Source for Media

Jean, I think you will find that your method links multiple Media records to the Source record so that you can see those media items in the Media tab of the Source's Property box. But it does not make the link the other way. You do not see the Source in the Property box of the Media items. You are a...

Re: Adding a Source for Media

If the GEDCOM standard was not to be used with the accession of an object (or photo in this case) and is only to be used with facts, then why does FH have the source box available in the Media window? Re: One individual, one with parents one without

You must have previously entered at least one parent’s name in the unwanted parent family record and then deleted the name, leaving it empty, otherwise that parent family record would not exist at all. Ideally the parent family records should have been merged when you merged the individuals. You cou...

The display options on the selection are not passed to the report other than the records, you can turn off the dates for the report in the report options. Pardon my ignorance, but aren’t these choices the report options? What other options are there and where are they? Yes, they are the report opti...
