Mike, try the Essentials > Directory/List template which specifically supports electoral rolls.
Select that instead of the Census Return template for AS Electoral Register entries.

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
The earlier discussions are: 22013|FH Short Date and ISO Format 18777|Including update date in reports 19707|Abbreviated month name To clarify Mark's comment, FH does support the yyyy-mm-dd ISO format via Tools > Preferences > General tab Preferred Short Date Format setting in conjunction with the A...

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
Gary, FH is quite tolerant of date input formats and will recognise many variants. When a month's name is included then the order of the day and month can be either way round. Everybody and FH has a problem interpreting dates such as 3/8/2024, 3rd of Aug or 8th of Mar? That is when FH uses the Prefe...

Sorry, you are correct about Narrative Reports. I thought I had checked them but must have misread in haste.
Until we know exactly what type of report is being discussed it is difficult to be precise.

Welcome to the FHUG Cindy. There are many different forms of reporting in FH. You have posted your question the Diagrams & Charts forum but refer to "some reports". To explain... Diagrams & Charts are created mostly via the Charts menu icon. Whereas, Reports (& Books) are creat...

Re: Some Repositories Missing from Records Window
Mark is correct about it probably being better to use the Generic Repository instead of a Template Repository.
But if you use the Export Gedcom File plugin then any Template Repository is moved to a Generic Repository in the exported GEDCOM which will usually be imported correctly to other products.

Re: Some Repositories Missing from Records Window
Repository Column Expression %SOUR.REPO[1]>% only lists the Generic Repository links. It does NOT list any Template field Repository links which need the Expression %SOUR.~RP-REPOSITORY>% I suggest you create another Repository column by adding <Other...> via the dialogue I posted yesterday. Set the...

Re: Some Repositories Missing from Records Window
PP, it would be useful to see a screenshot of a Source which does list the Repository and a Source that does not. Then it will be clear whether they both use the Repository template field or not. To show the column Expression, right-click on any Sources tab column header and choose Configure Columns...

Re: Importing charts into a word document
Yes, JPG/PNG saved from FH do not have great resolution.
Are the charts small enough to take a screenshot and save as JPG/PNG?
Otherwise, save it as a PDF and then convert it to PNG using such as IrfanView.

Find Date Phrases
The topic 22911|Casting template data as a particular data-type has raised some issues. The 'Find Date Phrases' CP plugin has some omissions. Despite the Plugin Store claiming it is a Standard plugin for FH V7, the header has no @Type: Standard line. It does not find Date Phrases in any Source Citat...

Re: GRO Source Reference plugin
You are correct that iup.GetParam is very limited in what it supports. Dynamic changes are next to impossible. There is no fundamental difference between adding action= to the definition and control:action() functions. What might dictate one over the other is the scoping rules on variable visibility...

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
It should allow AS {SYSTEM.DATE} values in the format mm/dd/yyyy to be entered successfully into FH Date fields.
Try it and see. They will get converted to the usual dd Mmm yyyy Compact format.

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
Gary, changing the FH Preferred Short Date Format will not retrospectively change an existing Date Phrase. It will only be effective for future AS date entries. As I said, it is not AS sending text-type data. AS is sending an invalid date as far as FH is concerned, so FH has no option other than to ...

Re: Some Repositories Missing from Records Window
Maybe the Repository column in the Records Window refers to the Generic %SOUR.REPO>NAME% field. However, your screenshot shows all templated sources so do they all use the Template Repository? The Templated Repository Field and has a very different Data Reference: %SOUR.~RP-REPOSITORY>NAME% It would...

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
I wasn't suggesting a permanent change but just to confirm my diagnosis.
The alternative is to make FH recognise USA dates.
If it cannot be resolved any other way then my Fix Date Fields plugin could be updated to fix the problem.

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
I have discovered why the plugins are not finding template Date fields, and that needs fixing. Your screenshots confirm what I thought. It is not AS but FH that is converting the data. However, I've noticed that 3/21/2024 is not a valid UK date which should be 21/3/2024. Is that because you have you...

Re: Casting template data as a particular data-type
Gary, please confirm that Date format is a Date Phrase. i.e. Open the Date Entry Assistant by double-clicking the Access_Date box and see the text is in the Date phrase. There are Date fixing plugins but the ones I've tried currently don't recognise that template Date field. Let me investigate furth...

Re: Expression guidance please
Presumably, the suffix value will not always be USA and could be other values.
It is easy enough to delete all the NSFX fields by using a Query.
The NAME field 'suffix' can also be deleted using the Search and Replace plugin.

Re: GRO Source Reference plugin
I would say the small group of plugin authors here are friendly and helpful.
Several of my plugins make extensive use of iuplua, but whether that makes me an expert I'm not sure.
Some of the iuplua documentation is difficult to follow and sometimes needs trial and error experiments.

Re: Expression guidance please
Mark is absolutely correct. However, users often ask how to enter names such as John Smith Snr or Jack Jones III such that they display fully in the Focus Window, etc. To achieve that you must enter John /Smith/ Snr or Jack /Jones/ III in the NAME field. The NSFX field won't do that. In Western term...
