Re: Handling identical source names

I don't have duplicate titles. I view images from different collection-repository combinations as different sources (since they are, technically; for example, different online providers have done their own imaging for e.g. censuses, with differing qualities).

Re: Ability to change user interface language

Being realistic, this isn't going to get done any way except community sourcing. Are you talking about the Help text in the programme or the html conversion? If the HTML conversion, it looks as if it's done with https://www.helpwaregroup.com/products/far which hasn't been updated for 4 years, so it ...

Re: Ability to change user interface language

Problem Statement The Family Historian user interface is currently English-only. Proposal It would be an improvement if the interface could be made available in other languages, perhaps by a mechanism similar to (or an extension of) the current community-sourced Language Pack concept. =============...

Helen; It's terrible to have typos, but they do happen [I did see the one in your reply :D ]. Thanks for spotting it. I've corrected it in my post I was worried it was in your data :) I don't hold much hope for EE's 4th ed. The 3rd ed. preoccupation with shoe-horning everything into a "book&qu...

I'll leave it here -- you might pick up some support when the board is busier.

Is there something out of the ordinary about your image? I'd be happy to try shrinking it.

Plus 100 x 100 fits in nicely with our theme and doesn't impact performance overly for those of our members who don't have fast Internet.

Re: Trivial question on forum avatar size

Yep, and we set it to reduce our storage costs. Really? How much does this storage cost that increasing the size of a few 100 avatars from 6k to something more contemporary breaks the bank?! I'm astonished, given how little storage actually costs!!!! My icon (which I use in a lot of places) is just...

Re: Trivial question on forum avatar size

Apologies for the triviality of this, but why are forum avatars so tiny? It's 2024, 100x100 at 6kB seems a little antiquated! I thought I'd actually set mine up, tried to upload and have spent 15 minutes failing to scale an image small enough! Not exactly important, but as I understand it the forum...

Re: Named List programmable access

I hope they don’t use Media as a template - I still find the dual routes in horribly confusing. My feeling is that the original posting summarised what was wanted clearly, and later discussion drifted into suggesting how . CP will have the best view of how to balance the needs of the tiny minority ...

Re: Named List programmable access

You're right that some record types already have two UI windows. It would probably be easier for new users if they didn't but that's another discussion.

I don't think we can rely on user ignorance to make the UI make sense :)

Re: Named List programmable access

To be honest, I did not pay any attention to UI implications, because CP have probably already resolved them and IMO the current UI is perfectly adequate so why change it. I agree, but by making Named Lists a new record type, they'd either have to appear in the Records Window in addition to the Nam...

I'd have liked some time to consider your suggested implementation, which may not form part of the Wish List item itself but is linked from it. I don't think you've paid enough attention to the UI implications.

Re: Recommendations on good video for FH7 Diagrams

Gary, if you go to Videos in the Knowledge Base and click through the title to an article, it will tell you which versions of FH a video applies to, if you want to avoid videos made for older versions. Bear in mind, a video is unlikely to be remade for V7 if most of what it shows is still valid even...
