Re: Recognise DD-MMM-YYYY as date
... Yes, I was very surprised that FH does not recognise the dashes and it would be great if this could be incorporated in a future release. One might think it's easy to recognise 1-Feb-1878 as "1 Feb 1878" (no dashes in the actual date.) However, 10-1800 is interpreted as "frm 0010 ...

... It's a better use of my time to write a good specific sentence in a Note field when it's needed than it is to wrestle with arcane sentence templates that will never produce a result as good. Re: Sentence Template Codes
So Adrian, presumably you are happy with Fact Witnesses not being listed in their own Property Box and Reports? Yup. When I use Name-Only witnesses, it's precisely because I don't want them clogging up property boxes, etc. I really don't want the assorted rectors of Nantwich (e.g.) appearing as ind...

Re: Sentence Template Codes
If (big if) the Fact Witnesses are name only, then I alter the witnesses' name to be a description, e.g. instead of "Paul Simon" as a name, I enter a "name" of "Paul Simon, plumber of Antwerp".
Sorry if you have Witnesses as Individuals, or a mix of the two types.

Re: Generic or custom or interesting fact type
I have created a custom note fact with only two fields, the date and text. ... Me too. I have a Custom Event fact with only two fields required - Date and Note . It's named and labelled as " Dated note ", which suggests my line of thought - a note to appear in someone's timeline. I use na...

... Which is why EE-style citations are non-deterministic. Until you're eyeballing a source, and have gone through the thinking, you don't know what the structure of your citation will be. Often, if you're lucky, it will fit one of the existing models. But if you're dealing with a website that's im...

Re: 'Free Form' Citation Entry capability
Re "non-deterministic" I'm familiar with its use in quantum theory - or as familiar as any amateur ever is. I believe that I understand its use elsewhere. But, given that the formats in EE! are all laid down in that book, I struggle to understand its applicability to ESM's formats. I can i...

Re: Automatic generation of UniqueID
... According to the GEDCOM Standard (which may or may not have relevance to any other software you are looking at) RELIGIOUS_AFFILIATION:= {Size=1:90} A name of the religion with which this person, event, or record was affiliated. Hmm - "person, event, or record" covers all the bases, I think...

If you go to the All Tab for that person's property window, and right-click the baptism fact, you will see a surprisingly long list of items that can be added to the baptism event. One of them is " Religious Affiliation ". This will then be visible from the All Tab, of course, but can be a...
