Re: Is there a way to link two individuals that likely are the same person?
The standard GEDCOM method is to use the 'Alias Tag', not to be confused with usual meaning of an alias being an alternative name used by a person. - Make a note of the Individual IDs of the possible 'matches' - Make one of them the focus individual - Select the All Tab for that individual - Right C...

Re: FH v7.09 and Crossover v21.1 & reports
Colin, I can't replicate your Mojave setup, but confirm that the same 'problem' occurs when using Mac OS 'Big Sur' and Crossover 21.1, i.e. Report production still works when using FH 6, but fails with the same error message you reported when using FH7.0.9. Hadn't noticed this before, as I now mostl...

I know that but it still takes 2 clicks to get to All Apps. Ah, the impatience of youth :D I haven't had any need to access 'All Apps' since organising the shortcut options on the 'Task Bar' and the initial 'Start' screen to organise my most frequently used apps and remove any duplication. 'Search'...

Yes, the Alias Tag is available in FH, and has been as far back as I can remember. Easy to add link(s) between possible matching individuals via the 'All' Tab.

Re: Newly added child will not sort according to birth date
@woodr2011 I'm surprised that you you believe the default in other applications is to automatically sort the order of newly entered children, eg. both Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic do exactly the same as Family Historian, i.e. leave it to the user to reorder children if/when necessary and provide...

Re: Font size in How Related results window?
If this is a eyesight related issue, why not just use the native Windows solution, i.e. the Magnifier app, or one of the similar third-party freeware applications, which might offer more options and would work across all applications, not just Family Historian. Personally, I can't see Calico Pie con...

Lorna,
I've just checked the display of the 'YDNA' Diagram on my installation, never having used this before; and get the same bright yellow box for the selected individual and pale yellow for all others.

Re: Historically correct names for Canada
I suppose my initial comment would be that one needs to take into account when identifying named places when they would first have had a recognised existence as a named locality/settlement; e.g. it appears that Chatham in "Canada" first came into a named existence in the 1790's, as a Briti...

Mine is also shown as Naturalisation, so I think the presentation is probably driven by the Windows Language & Keyboard settings. BillH will presumably have US settings. Not sure, but I suspect the US 'z' variant hasn't been accepted into GB English in the same way that some other words have, e....

Lorna,
Yes, you have it correct, if two activations have already been used against a single licence, you are asked to select which installation you wish to 'replace'; or, if you have more than one registered licence, you are given the opportunity to select a different licence.

@Andy101 IME FH7 installs fine on Wine with no 'special' settings in the Linux Distributions I've tried, mostly Debian/Ubuntu based, including Mint. The 'add-on' application Ancestral Sources also installs and works fine, providing you can get the required MS .Net Framework to install correctly, whi...

I can confirm that Family Historian (7.0.7) and Ancestral Sources (7.2.7) both seem to be working fine in the current version of Windows 11 'in testing', i.e.Version 21H2, Build 22000120. Re: Problem Installing AS v7 with Crossover
Colin, You can install 32-bit Windows apps normally using Crossover providing you use a 32-bit Bottle. Installing FH is proof of that as it only comes as 32-bit. However, 32-bit FH will also install fine in a 64-bit Bottle if you choose to go that way; and you can then use the 64-bit Version of AS i...

The problem might possibly connected to the .Net Framework 4.8 requirement to install/run AS 7.x and so it might be worthwhile asking Parallels whether or not there are any known issues installing x32/x64 software with specific .Net Framework requirements, as it is in their financial interest to ens...
