Re: FHUG costs
Perhaps specific pop-up reminders at specific times of year in the same way that Xmas Lights appear, but backed up with something a bit more informative and attractive to site users, as opposed to the current rather obscure/bland Donate page link/infromation e.g. see this example: https://linuxmint....

Re: Disable some facts from Narrative print
If you right click on a fact for an individual the first item in the pop-up 'Fact Flags' has an option to mark as 'Private', which will then enable the fact to be omitted from reports etc., which is similar to the option you had in RootsMagic

Re: Cleaning up Events and Attributes After Import Question
For moves within the country technically, the correct term should probably be migration rather emigration/immigration, so "s/he migrated from x to y"; but in the reality most people would simply say/write "s/he moved from x to y"

Re: A plea for Updated V7 Video Tutorials Please please…please
@Vyger, Good to 'see' you here and am sure the offer of help will be accepted positively in FHUG. Transcending the request for videos, which I believe are very valuable to visual learners, I believe the "Getting the most from Family Historian" publication should be PDF, so always fully up ...

Re: Denominations and Religion
For UK non-Church of England churches, I identify the denomination in the address field as most churches now do, e.g. St Roberts Catholic Church. This is also consistent with the addresses/locations of most non-conformist churches, as the denomination is (was) often the only 'name' accorded to a chu...

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings plugins
There is a significant difference between program data backup and software settings backup. Data backup is fully built in to Family Historian and is totally reliable IME, but program settings backup isn't directly supported, which is what the Plugins do for Family Historian. Similarly RM7 and 8 have...

Re: Backup and Restore FH Settings plugins
Not surprised at Lorna's analysis as many of those that have downloaded and used the 'new' version probably did so for comparison purposes as a result of following the development thread. I would also not be surprised if the majority of those still have both Backup and Restore plugins installed. Nor...

Teresa, Nick beat me to answer but looking at your screenshots I was also going to say just choose 'Yes' The screen is asking for confirmation that you want to replace the existing Death Fact, which has no sources with a new Sourced Fact (the normal situation), or add the fact as an alternative Deat...

Teresa,
You need to press "Select" in the second box on the right can side of the first screenshot to carry the name across to input screen (and, of course, confirm that the correct individual has been highlighted).

Mark, Have tested on both: - Crossover 21.2, which i believe still uses Wine 7.0 'Stable'; and - Linux (Debian), using Wine 7.8 (Staging) which contains the very latest developments/bugfixes under testing. - Which seems to have the added 'advantage' of being able to use FH's internal Browser Window....

Re: Mac/Linux-compatible version of Backup & Restore FH Settings via Windows plugin
Mark, Seems it may not be as much of an issue as I first experienced. More of a need to adopt a slightly different process. Ran through this again several times and when the 'Windows' popup message appeared: Screenshot 2022-05-15 at 14.51.32.jpg 1. If I chose 'yes' at this point, the the background ...

Re: Mac/Linux-compatible version of Backup & Restore FH Settings via Windows plugin
Mark, I've now run the backup restore processes several times: Windows <-> Linux <-> Crossover (Mac) <-> Windows All processes run as you described, very speedy with only one problem. There just has to be one! With Crossover the Backup process works with no problem, but when running the restore proc...

Re: Mac/Linux-compatible version of Backup & Restore FH Settings via Windows plugin
Mark, I'll run some tests and let you know the results a.s.a.p. The Crossover Build I use is based on a 32-bit Prefix, but my Linux installation uses a 64-bit Prefix and is always on the latest WINE staging build, not the 'old' versions that Ubuntu/Mint etc. tend to provide, so should add some furth...

Re: How can I use a quarter date in a custom query?
Peter, Could the annotation be a cross-reference to an earlier Birth Registration that did take place? I have come across that type of entry several times when a father's name was omitted from the original Registration and a Re-registration occurred later to provide the 'corrected' information. Perh...

I'm convinced that this is nothing to do with any programming decision by Calico Pie. IME external 'documents/files' launched via a Family Historian link will open in whatever external application is designated in Windows as the default (using the appropriate file extension). For example, with the l...

Mike,
After all my years working with Windows apps and their multiple options for achieving the same goal, I still tend to get used to 'one-way' that I find quickest for me. Here, my omission was down to me hardly ever using the 'Date Entry Assistant' for entering dates.

@jclifford,
I use separate (custom) facts/events for UK Birth/Death/Marriage Registrations, but would suggest that, if you go this route, you add a Sort Date (using the 'All' Tab) for each Registration entry to ensure they are sorted into the correct order.
