Standard Fact Set

I have been trying to clean up the sentences that are created when you publish a narrative book. For the standard fact Marriage, there are fields that let you enter the date, place, and address, but not the name of a church. I have gotten around it by putting the name of the church after the date in...

Census Media Links

I am new to using Ancestral Sources, so maybe I am doing something wrong. I have watched Nicks videos and thought this was a great way to enter census records and have used it for 18 different census records. My question is, after entering the census record, I went into my Media tab in FH and after ...

Re: Books

yes, I am talking about the published books. I was hoping that I didn't have to add every person one at a time. I was hoping that it could be like doing a decedent's or ancestors' narrative book.

Books

Is there an easy way to make an All-relatives narrative book? There are ancestries and decedents narrative book options, but not for relatives. This would be a good update to the program if it is not available.

Re: Missing Field

yes, the entire field is missing from the reports. The summary report and the narrative reports. This is happening for both facts. This is the first few days of playing with building a book, so there may be a setting that I am missing. It is just odd that it seems to be only these 2 facts that are n...

Re: Missing Field

I have a workaround that is working for me. ( I am using a custom field called Address and another one call Married Address for now.) I was trying to get the house number and street from the address field in the residence to show when you create a book. I am not sure why it is skipping just that fie...

Re: Missing Field

Can this be done for the residence fields? When I try to create a new residence, it says, "you cannot create a new type of fact with these details in the fact set Custom" This is because there is already an individual attribute called residence in the fact set.

Re: Missing Field

Yes, it is just like Occupation that lets you enter something. They are both set as an event and custom. I just looked at the occupation and that is set to attribute and standard. If I try to edit them, the pulldown for the options is not working. Do I need to make a new one and set them to attribut...

Missing Field

After importing a Gedcom file from Family Tree Maker, I noticed that some of the field names were not able to be filled in. Example: If I add the Cemetery field from FH to a person in my tree, I am unable to add the Cemetery Name. The Gedcom file I imported has that field available to be added, so I...

Re: Help with an expression

Thank you, Ron and Mike.
I am going to use the Loc: suggestion, even though it will take a while to change them all. I have over 700 to do.

Help with an expression

I am using the following expression now with my grave location project: =ContainsText(%INDI.BURI.NOTE2%,"Section",STD) I have found that cemeteries do not follow a standard for locations of graves. Some use Sections, Lots, Plots, and grave numbers. My question is: How do I add more words to the abov...

Re: Help with an expression

It was saying expression not valid. I thought I was using the wrong note field at first (locial, or linked note), so I was changing it and forgot to put the comma in.

Re: Help with an expression

Mike,
That worked to get an icon for anyone that had a note, but I want it to search for GPS in the note field. That will tell me that I have a GPS location for the tombstone for that person, not just a stone and a Find-A-Grave number.
I am not sure if the program can do that or not.

Re: Help with an expression

Thank you Mike. I will try that.
One other question for you,
When would you use the Insert Data Ref button instead of adding a Condition Expression?

Help with an expression

I am trying to use an expression to show when someone has a GPS location for a tombstone in the Burial note field. expression: =ContainsText(%INDI.BURI.NOTE%,"GPS",STD) It does not give me an error when I exit and apply but it does not show the icon I set for it. I am very new to Family Historian, a...
